Equipment

The elegant box, made of durable cardboard with matte lamination, contains comprehensive information about the device, allowing you to get an idea of it before unpacking. On the side faces there are color photographs of the device, a list of its main advantages, technical characteristics and photographs of dishes prepared with its help.

Foam inserts inside the box provide reliable protection of the multicooker from shocks and damage. For ease of carrying and transportation, the box is equipped with a plastic handle.

The Red Solution ColorCook RMC-88 package includes:

  • multicooker body
  • a bowl
  • container for steaming
  • measuring container, ladle and flat spoon
  • power cord
  • recipe book
  • instruction manual and service book

At first sight

The beautiful body of the Red Solution ColorCook RMC-88 with streamlined shapes is made of black plastic.

The main surface of the device is occupied by a matte finish with some textured elements, complemented by glossy inserts. All this together looks harmonious and gives the device a very presentable appearance.

The bright image of the controls in the photo is a protective sticker that can be easily removed without leaving any marks. Without a network connection, the panel remains black, and the outlines of the touch buttons are visible only from a close distance at an angle.

The multicooker body is equipped with a convenient carrying handle.

The weight of the device with the cord and bowl inside is 3.7 kg.

The lid opens smoothly when you press a mechanical button located above the control panel and securely locks in the open position. At the same time, the body remains motionless, which is not always possible to achieve with other multicookers.

On the outside, closer to the back of the case, there is a hole in the lid for releasing steam.

On the inside there is a removable cover with a non-detachable rubber seal along the outer edge. In the upper part, the sealing rubber at the steam outlet hole is removed.

Behind the lid there is a steam valve with an additional rubber seal; both elements can be easily removed.

On the upper part of the rear side of the case there is a container for collecting condensate, which can be easily removed and installed back. Above is the cover mount, below is a nameplate with technical information and a barcode. In the lower left part there is a connector for connecting the power cord. The length of the network cable is 110 cm.

At the bottom of the multicooker there are ventilation slots and five legs in the form of protrusions, two of which are equipped with anti-slip pads in the front part.

The internal chamber of the device is standard — metal side walls, a heating element at the bottom and a spring-loaded temperature sensor.

A bowl with a non-stick coating is inserted inside. It is quite light and has a regular shape.

The handles are comfortable to grip and are thermally insulated. The volume of the bowl up to the brim is 5 liters, with exactly 4 liters placed up to the top mark.

The kit includes a standard spoon and ladle, a small measuring container with a volume of 180 ml, and a special container for steaming.

The steam container is a standard plastic container with a perforated bottom, similar to what is used in most other multicookers. The container does not have handles, so removing it from the bowl during cooking may not be very convenient.

Instructions

The instruction manual is a 42-page A5 brochure printed on thick glossy paper. The document is available in Russian and Kazakh languages and contains maximum useful information about the device. Despite the large number of programs, after reading the user is unlikely to have questions about operation. The instructions are supplemented with detailed diagrams and tables, which greatly simplifies the perception of information.

The multicooker comes with an illustrated book with 120 recipes adapted specifically for this model. The book presents porridges, soups, main courses, side dishes, steamed dishes, appetizers and salads, bread and pastries, drinks and desserts. Each recipe is accompanied by a detailed description of the cooking process and high-quality, attractive photographs.

Control

The control panel of the Red Solution ColorCook RMC-88 multicooker is equipped with a color touch screen that ensures good readability of information at any level of lighting.

Once connected to the network, a red button lights up in the upper right corner of the display, opening the main menu, and a dotted line appears in the area where information about cooking time and heating settings will later be displayed. There is also an indicator of sound signals, which can be turned off if necessary.

To access the menu, you need to press the red button, after which images of dishes with auto programs and buttons for controlling cooking parameters at the edges of the screen will appear on the display. If no operation is performed for two minutes, the display will automatically turn off.

At the top left is a heating on/off button, which can also be used to interrupt the cooking process or reset settings.

At the bottom there are buttons “−” and “ + ”, intended for setting time and temperature parameters. The digital values change in a circle. When you hold down the “−” button, the sound signals are turned off, and the “ + ” button locks the control panel.

The button in the form of a chef's hat on the right launches the Multicook program. In this mode, you can adjust the heating parameters in the range from 35 to 180 °C in 1 °C steps before starting. The range for changing cooking time parameters in this mode is from 1 minute to 12 hours in 1 minute increments.

After completing any program, auto-heating automatically turns on, maintaining the temperature of the finished dish within 70-75 °C for 12 hours. To disable this option, you need to click once on the red button in the upper right corner.

To start the program, press the power button in the upper right corner, and to turn it off, hold the button in the upper left corner. During the process, the display shows the remaining time until the end of the program, and then the operating time of the heating, if it has not been switched off. The multicooker status indicator is displayed on the control panel at the bottom.

Immediately after starting it is orange, at the end of the cycle it is green. The purple circle lights up during delayed start mode, and the red circle lights up when the operating temperature is reached.

Exploitation

Following the recommendations from the instructions, we wiped the multicooker body with a damp cloth, washed the bowl, dried it and installed it inside. Then pour 0.5 liters of water into the bowl, drop half a lemon into it and boil for 15 minutes in the “Steam” mode. After this, we drained the water, rinsed the bowl again and wiped it dry. During the first and subsequent starts, no foreign odors were noticed from the device.

Practice has shown that cooking in a slow cooker is simple and convenient. During the entire period of use, we did not encounter any difficulties. The heating of the bowl is uniform and stable, and the parameter settings are as flexible as possible. A big plus is the ability to adjust parameters directly during the cooking process. The color indication of cooking stages and overall control are also convenient. The smooth and silent lid is another pleasant convenience, a rarity for multicookers.

Care

To properly care for your multicooker, you must regularly clean the bowl, lid, steam valve elements, and condensate collection container. The bowl can be washed either by hand or in the dishwasher. The body of the device should be wiped with a soft damp cloth or sponge. It is not recommended to use abrasive and chemically aggressive detergents.

Practice tests

Vegetable puree soup with chicken broth (Cooking and Soup programs)

First, we prepared chicken breast broth using the “Cooking” mode. The default program ran for an hour at a heating temperature of 100 °C. Although the water boiled 10 minutes after starting and reached a temperature of 99 °C, this was an excessively high temperature for the broth. We lowered the heat to 90 °C and the liquid temperature remained at 93 °C until the end of the program.

Although we would have liked to steam the vegetables at the same time as the broth, the entire volume of prepared broccoli and cauliflower did not fit in the container.

I had to wait for the chicken to cook to make room for the vegetables. The vegetables were cooked in the broth on the Soup program for half an hour.

The “Cooking” and “Soup” modes have the same default parameters (100 °C and 1 hour) and differ only in the maximum cycle duration: in the first case up to 6 hours, and in the second — up to 8.

After cooking the vegetables, we placed them in a separate container, added the broth in which they were cooked, as well as salt and seasonings, and pureed everything with an immersion blender.

Roast turkey (Roasting program)

We selected the «Fry» mode and waited until the operating temperature was reached after 3 minutes. Then we added some vegetable oil to the bowl and placed two pieces of turkey in the bottom. The default temperature was 160 °C. Turning the steaks regularly, we grilled them for 10 minutes.

This time was enough for the meat to fry evenly, remain juicy enough and not dry out.

Turkey sous vide (Vacuum program)

We cut the second part of the turkey fillet into three parts, sprinkled it with salt and herbs, vacuum sealed it and kept it in the refrigerator for 5 hours.

The «Vacuum» program automatically sets the temperature to 63 °C for 3 hours. We decided to keep this temperature as we thought it was reasonable, but only changed the cooking time as recommended in the included recipe book: our bird took 2 hours to cook.

An hour after launch, the temperature of the water in the bowl reached 55°C, and another half hour later — up to 63 degrees. At the end of the cycle, a juicy and fully cooked turkey awaited us.

Cupcake (Multi-cook and Baking program)

Ingredients: wheat flour — 200 g, baking powder — 10 g, milk — 100 ml, butter — 80 g, 2 eggs, a pinch of salt, vanilla sugar — to taste

We put the butter in the bowl and turned on the Multicook mode at 50 °C. While the butter was melting, sifted the flour and added baking powder with a small pinch of salt. In a separate container, beat eggs with sugar, then add room temperature milk and melted butter. We made several movements with a whisk and combined the liquid mixture with flour. Using a silicone spatula, thoroughly mix all the ingredients until smooth and place in a bowl.

Set to Baking mode. Again we trusted the multicooker and left the default settings unchanged. Baking took place for 1 hour at a temperature of 125 °C.

At the end of the cycle, a fragrant, evenly baked cake appeared.

Airy and literally melting in your mouth.

Omelet in a water bath (Multi-cook program)

We poured one liter of water into the bowl, placed a heat-resistant ceramic bowl on the bottom and selected the “Multi-cook” mode with heating to 125 °C. Then, in a separate container, three eggs were mixed with milk in a volume corresponding to the volume of the egg mass. While the water in the bowl was boiling, we poured the egg mixture into the bowl and closed the lid.

After 25 minutes everything was ready.

We took the container out of the water, cooled it a little and, using a silicone spatula, carefully removed the omelette onto a plate.
