Review of the Redmond BS410 stationary blender

28.03.2024 11:17

Blenders are not just for small children or elderly people without teeth. They can also be useful for middle-aged people, especially those who face chewing problems due to dental problems or medical recommendations. For example, when a doctor recommends fasting for several hours, this does not mean that you should not consume smoothies or pureed soups, which are easy to consume in liquid form. A blender can also come in handy when your jaw hurts and you can't chew, or when you have braces that make it difficult to eat.

So the blender has become very popular. Let's see how he performs in the tests.

Equipment

The blender comes in a traditional Redmond box. On a black background there is a photograph of the device, a brief description of its functions and features, as well as technical specifications.

Opening the box we found:

  • electric motor block
  • cap
  • jug
  • lid with a hole for feeding food
  • book of 20 recipes
  • cap with measuring scale
  • service book and operating manual

The design of the blender is traditional and extremely simple.

Instructions

The document is presented in the form of a thin A6 brochure and contains information about operation in two languages: Russian and Kazakh. The instructions describe the design and configuration of the blender, its technical characteristics, and also provide rules for operating and maintaining the device.

The device comes with a recipe book, which contains not only recipes, but also the main technical characteristics and operating modes of the device. The book also contains a table with the content of nutrients in various products, and also contains 5 recipes for pureed soups, 4 recipes for sauces and 11 smoothie recipes.

Control

Control of the Redmond BS410 blender also remains simple and intuitive. There is a switch on the front panel that not only turns on the motor, but also allows you to adjust the speed. The speed regulator has a smooth adjustment, which allows you to select the operating speed in the range from 17500 to 19500 rpm. By turning the knob to the right, you can easily adjust the speed from minimum to maximum. In addition, turning the knob also turns the blender on and off.

Under the regulator there are buttons for turning on automatic modes:

  • main mode button (self-cleaning mode)
  • Pulse button
  • ice crush mode button.

There were no difficulties with the controls; everything was simple and clear.

Exploitation

Interaction with the blender also takes place without any problems or difficulties. The device is easy to assemble and disassemble.

Before first use, the body of the device should be wiped with a damp cloth, and the removable parts should be washed in soapy water and dried thoroughly. Before turning on, make sure that the lid on the blender bowl is installed and the food supply opening is closed. This is important because food splatters can get everywhere in the kitchen if the lid is not in place.

The instructions also warn that solid ingredients and powdered products must be mixed with sufficient liquid. Hot foods should be cooled for 5 to 10 minutes before placing them in the blender to avoid damage from sudden temperature changes.

The manufacturer also provides a table describing the automatic programs.

Basic mode (self-cleaning mode)Recommended for whipping cream, eggs, making creams, milkshakes, pureed vegetables and fruits. Automatic shutdown after 1 minute of continuous operation.
Pulse modeTo briefly process food at maximum speed, press and hold the mode button. This mode allows you to better control the grinding and mixing process. Recommended for making pureed soups and sauces.
Ice crushingRecommended for crushing ice when preparing cocktails, processing frozen berries, hard foods, and nuts. Automatic shutdown after 30 seconds of continuous operation.

The blender can be turned on in quick start mode by moving the speed control to the minimum position. The speed can be changed by turning the regulator clockwise. In quick start mode, automatic shutdown will occur after 3 minutes of continuous operation. It is recommended to take 10 minutes between uses. However, the blender often processes food in less than three minutes, so turning it on again is not necessary.

The blender is also equipped with an automatic shutdown system in case of overheating and overload, as well as a protective engine blocking system. If the jug is not installed on the base or is not installed correctly, the motor will not start.

Care

The main recommendation for caring for your blender is to clean it after each use to prevent food residue from drying on.

The motor unit should not be immersed in water or sprayed with water. It is not recommended to use aggressive detergents or abrasives to clean other parts of the blender. None of the blender parts are dishwasher safe. The main method of care is hand washing using a soft sponge or cloth and soapy water.

The blender also has a self-cleaning mode. To activate it, you need to pour warm water into the blender bowl up to the 1000 ml mark, add a few drops of mild detergent, move the speed control to the “on” position and start the self-cleaning mode by pressing the leftmost button on the body. The device will automatically turn off after 1 minute.

Our measurements

The maximum recorded power measured by a wattmeter was 437 W. The noise level is quite noticeable, especially when the engine switches to high speeds, but given that the device usually runs for less than a minute, this is not a problem at all.

Practice tests

Tomato test

For the tomato dough, we took two tomatoes, cut them quite large and put them in a blender.

We launched the main automatic program and evaluated the result a minute after its completion.

The tomatoes were perfectly pureed and beaten; we did not find large or even medium-sized fragments of skin, only a few tomato seeds can be seen in the photo on the right.

Result: excellent

Mushroom cream soup

To prepare this dish, we used the recipe from the book included with the device.

Ingredients:

  • champignons – 500 g
  • onion — 150 g
  • garlic — 5 g
  • water — 450 ml
  • cream 30% — 200 ml
  • vegetable oil — 20 ml
  • salt
  • spices

Peeled and cut the onions and mushrooms.

First, the onions were fried in a frying pan, then the champignons were added and fried as well. After that, put everything into a saucepan, added water and brought to a boil.

Next, the soup was poured into a blender jug, where cream, salt, and spices were added, and then blended at medium speed until smooth.

Poured the soup into a jug
Added cream
Whipped

The soup turned out to be the most delicate texture, melting on the tongue and very tasty. We added wheat crackers to it and ate it with gusto.

Sweet potato puree

On the one hand, this is a simple dish, but on the other hand, it is unusual due to the use of exotic sweet potatoes. We rarely use it in cooking, although it is not inferior to regular potatoes, and dishes with sweet potatoes can diversify our daily menu.

We took two sweet potato tubers and peeled them. (Here we learned that in the specialized literature the peel or outer tissues of a potato tuber are collectively called periderm. Now you know this too.)

We cut the sweet potato into large pieces and sent it to boil. After half an hour (in fact, the sweet potato cooks faster), we turned off the heat, drained the water and put it in a blender.

While the sweet potatoes were cooking, we melted the butter in a frying pan and added dried rosemary (although it's better to use fresh for a richer flavor) and garlic. Then added this mixture to the sweet potatoes in a blender.

And we beat all the ingredients in a blender.

Then it all depended on our taste: the sweet potato puree, prepared in a blender, turned out to be so soft and tender that it was possible to do without additives. But we decided that the puree was a little thick, so we added a little cream. As you can see in the photo below, the two purees are slightly different in color and texture.

The sweet potato puree turned out very soft — can you call the puree delicate? — and delicious.

Cherry smoothie with oatmeal

We prepared the cherry smoothie according to the recipe from the book that came with the blender.

Ingredients:

  • Natural yogurt – 200 ml
  • Oat flakes – 50 g
  • Ground cinnamon
  • Milk – 250 ml
  • Pitted cherries – 350 g
  • Honey — 40 g

We boiled milk and poured it over oatmeal. Place cherries and honey in a blender jug and pour yogurt over them.

Pour milk and soaked oatmeal onto the contents of the blender.

Close the lid and beat in ice crushing mode.

The result is a homogeneous and airy smoothie — an excellent dish for a healthy breakfast.

Mango shake

To prepare the mango shake, we put frozen mango puree in a blender, added condensed milk, cream and coconut milk.

The main automatic program was launched in the blender, which in 1 minute prepared an amazing mango shake — airy, pleasant to the tongue and taste.

And we added lemon to the photo just for beauty and to highlight the delicate yellow color of the resulting mango shake.

Result: excellent

conclusions

During testing, the device demonstrated its best qualities without causing any problems. The blender quickly and efficiently turned food into a homogeneous mass with a stunningly smooth texture — and this was typical of any product we processed in it.

As mentioned earlier, the Redmond BS410 blender turned out to be an indispensable assistant in our lives during difficult periods when visits to the dentist became a regular activity. Thanks to him, we could enjoy cream soups, puree soups and smoothies, which became our salvation during dietary restrictions. We especially liked the mango shake, which, it seems, will become our favorite dish, which we will be happy to treat our guests to.

Pros:

  • good for making smoothies and pureed soups
  • convenience and safety of operation
  • equipped with overload protection
  • The resulting products have a homogeneous, delicate texture

Minuses:
