The Redmond RMK-M271 multi-kitchen offers many useful functions. In particular, the MasterFry function turns it into an electric stove, and the MasterChef Light function allows you to change the temperature and operating time of automatic programs during their execution. In addition, the device has 16 automatic programs and the ability to manually adjust through the Multicook function.
Let's see how it all works in practice.

Equipment
The box is made of pleasant to the touch matte cardboard and is decorated with a photo of the device, the finished dish and an attractive girl. On the side there are photos of the finished dishes and technical characteristics of the model, including a special feature — the MasterFry function with a patented heating element lifting technology.
Inside the box, the appliance is reliably protected from impacts and damage thanks to foam inserts that fix the multi-kitchen in place. The box is equipped with a handle for easy transportation.
When opening the box, we found:
- multi-kitchen
- bowl
- frying pan
- container for steaming
- spoon
- measuring cup
- 6 yogurt jars
- tongs
- power cord
- recipe book, service book and operating manual
At first glance
Externally, the device resembles a regular multicooker, the only thing that is perhaps different is the color of the body, which is designed in gray “aluminum” tones with a graphic pattern.
The multi-kitchen is equipped with a bowl with a Japanese non-stick coating Daikin. The useful volume of the bowl is 3.5 l.
On the back panel of the multi-kitchen there is a plastic container for collecting condensate.
On the lid we see a removable steam valve (pictured above) and a lid opening button (bottom left).
On the bottom panel there are plastic feet and a ventilation grill, behind which is the cooling system.
There is a heating element (TEN) at the bottom.
One of the advantages of a multi-kitchen compared to a multi-cooker is the ability to lift the heating element, which turns the multi-kitchen into a full-fledged stove. For this purpose, the set includes tongs that allow you to lift the disk heater up and fix it in the upper position by turning it counterclockwise. If the heater has cooled down, you can lift it by hand, which is also convenient. It is important to remember safety precautions and be sure to unplug the device before performing this operation.
The multi-kitchen comes with a frying pan equipped with a non-stick coating from Daikin. The frying pan has a removable handle, which makes it easy to store and saves space.
The accessories include a plastic container for steaming,
six yogurt cups,
which fit completely into the multi-kitchen bowl:
as well as a ladle, a flat spoon and a measuring cup.
The power cord is packed separately.
Instructions
The operating manual is made in the form of a 28-page brochure made of high-quality glossy paper. The document contains information in Russian and Kazakh languages and covers all aspects necessary for safe and effective use of the device.
The user manual, in addition to the standard sections related to the use and care of the multi-kitchen, offers many useful and interesting details. It explains in detail how to operate the device: how to turn off the sound signals, set the cooking time, use automatic programs and change their parameters. It also provides additional tips and auxiliary information, including a summary table of cooking programs with factory settings, recommendations for temperature modes in the «Multicook» program, ways to eliminate errors during cooking and rules for caring for the device. The only thing that could have been added to the manual is information about the temperature of the automatic programs. For example, when making a carrot cake, it would be useful for us to know at what temperature the «Baking» program works in order to set the cooking time correctly.
The manual includes clear and visual illustrations that demonstrate the device, control panel and display, as well as a schematic explanation of the MasterFry function.
In addition, the set includes an illustrated recipe book of 120 pages. It presents a variety of dishes: porridges, soups, main courses, side dishes, steamed dishes, appetizers and salads, bread and pastries, drinks and desserts, sous-vide and deep-fried dishes, as well as recipes for making fermented milk products and fondue. All recipes are accompanied by high-quality and appetizing photographs.
Control
The control of the multi-kitchen turned out to be intuitive. On the front panel there are buttons that are activated by a simple press.
Under the orange «Start» button, which starts the selected cooking mode, there is a button for turning the device on/off. The table below shows the functionality of the buttons located on the main panel around the «Start» button.
Button | Purpose |
---|---|
«Cancel/Warm Up» | enable/disable the reheat function, interrupt the cooking program, reset user settings |
«Pace.» | switching to the cooking temperature setting mode |
«Deferment» | switching to the start delay setting mode |
«Time» | Switch to cooking time setting mode, switch between setting hours and minutes |
«-» | decrease the parameter value |
«+» | increase the parameter value |
To the right and left of the central panel there are buttons for selecting one of 16 automatic programs:
- Multicook
- Express
- Bread
- Steam
- Boiling
- Pasta
- Frying
- Baking
- Stewing
- Soup
- Yogurt
- Rice/Cereals
- Pizza
- Milk porridge
- Pilaf
- Simmering
To start a program, select the desired one and press the «Start» button. The display will show a countdown of the cooking time depending on the selected program.
In addition to standard functions, such as setting a delayed start and heating ready meals, the device allows you to turn off the sound signals and use the «Masterchef Light» function. This function allows you to change the temperature settings (from 35 to 180 °C in 1 °C increments) and time (in 1 minute increments) during the cooking process, regardless of the selected automatic program or parameters set via the «Multicook». The display shows the remaining time until the end of the program, and then the heating operation time (if it was not turned off in advance).
All programs and functions of the multi-kitchen are available both with the heating element raised and lowered. You can set a delayed start for up to 24 hours (in 1-minute increments) and turn on or off the heating of dishes after cooking is complete (up to 12 hours).
In general, setting up and changing programs or setting user parameters is not difficult.
Operation
Before using the appliance for the first time, it is recommended to process it: cut a lemon, place it in the bowl with 0.5 l of water and set the «Steam» program for 15 minutes. Of course, we forgot about this and simply washed the bowl with a soft sponge and detergent.
The bowl distributes heat evenly, the steam valve and condensate container are easy to remove and wash.
The heating element rises without effort and complex manipulations. We tried to raise it both manually and with the tongs that come with the kit. It is important to remember that the appliance should be disconnected from the mains when raising or lowering the heating element. There is a separate button for this in the multi-kitchen.
The heating element allows you to cook not only in the included frying pan, but also in any other cookware. The main thing is to ensure that the diameter of the bottom of the cookware does not exceed the diameter of the heating disk, and the edges and handles do not touch the plastic parts of the body and the sealing ring of the lid.
We liked the lack of a built-in clock in the multi-kitchen. Many other devices experience time setting failures when the device is disconnected from the power supply, which causes inconvenience. This device only has a timer function to count down the cooking time, which, in our opinion, is a convenient solution.
Overall, using the multi-kitchen was simple and convenient.
Care
Caring for the multi-kitchen is not particularly difficult. Before cleaning, make sure that the device is disconnected from the power supply and has completely cooled down. To do this, use a soft cloth and delicate detergents. Do not use rough cloths, abrasive sponges or aggressive chemicals.
After each use, clean the bowl, frying pan, inner lid and removable steam valve. Condensation that forms during cooking should also be removed immediately, and the inner surfaces of the working chamber should be cleaned as needed.
The manufacturer does not recommend leaving the bowl with cooked food or filled with water in a closed multi-kitchen for more than 24 hours.
The bowl and frying pan can be washed by hand, as indicated above, or in the dishwasher. After washing, be sure to wipe them dry before installing them in the device.
The body of the multi-kitchen cannot be immersed in water or washed under running water.
Our measurements
The maximum power recorded by the wattmeter during operation of the multi-kitchen was 906 W.
Practice tests
Pork stewed in white wine (programs "Frying" and "Stewing")
Since the Redmond RMK-M271 multi-kitchen is equipped with the MasterFry function, we decided to start with it, preparing a full second course — stewed pork in white wine. We chose rice as a side dish (details in the next test).
We raised the heating element, turned on the multi-kitchen, selected the automatic «Frying» program and placed the pork in the frying pan.
After a few minutes, the pork was fried and we threw it into the multi-kitchen bowl.
Then we fried the onions
and carrots.
Combine everything together in a multi-kitchen bowl, add salt and spices.
And, of course, we added white wine: because what's braised pork in white wine without white wine?
We set the “Stewing” program without changing any settings, and after 50 minutes the pork was ready.
Result: excellent
Boiled rice (Express program)
Then we transferred the stewed pork from the multi-kitchen bowl, washed the bowl and poured rice into it. We took rice and water in a 1:2 ratio (1 cup of rice, 2 cups of water).
We chose the «Express» program, which is designed for quick cooking of rice and porridges in water. The peculiarity of this program is that it stops working not after the set time has elapsed, but after the water has completely boiled away, which was ideal for our recipe.
As a result, after 16 minutes we got excellent crumbly rice (and, by the way, we did not forget to salt it).
Thus, after an hour and a half, including the «Frying», «Stewing» and «Express» programs, we got a full dinner. The main efforts were required only at the beginning: when frying pork, onions and carrots. If you take into account the time for cutting products, then cooking dinner took about two hours. However, it is worth noting that out of these two hours, 50 minutes (the «Stewing» program) and 16 minutes (the «Express» program) we were doing our own thing and did not monitor the process in the multi-kitchen.
Result: excellent
Yogurt in jars
Since the multicooker comes with yogurt jars, we decided to make yogurt. Instead of starter, we bought regular yogurt without additives and a package of sterilized milk. After long calculations of proportions for six jars, we still miscalculated and got only 5 servings of yogurt.
I will note that the included recipe book does not contain instructions for making yogurt in jars — only in the multicooker bowl. It would be useful if the manufacturer provided recommendations for using the jars.
We poured the prepared milk into jars, poured warm water into the bottom of the multicooker bowl and placed the jars in it. We installed the «Yogurt» program, set the time to 10 o'clock and went to bed, since the program works best at night.
The yogurt blank, poured into jars, and the finished yogurt do not differ much in appearance, so here we got by with one photo
In the morning the yogurt was almost ready, but it turned out that it needed to be left in the refrigerator for another 4 hours to ripen.
When the yogurt had steeped, we tried it. It was tasty, but a bit runny, more like a drink. Perhaps using another yogurt for the starter or a store-bought starter would have given a different result. In general, there is room for experimentation here.
The photo below shows yogurt with jam.
Result: excellent
Hercules (programs "Delayed start" and "Milk porridge")
We took oatmeal #2, poured milk over it in a 1:2 ratio and put it in the multicooker bowl, adding sugar, salt and butter.
We set the cooking time for the Milk Porridge program to 5 minutes and set the delayed start to an hour. The multi-kitchen screen displays the delayed start and auto-heating indicator, which we left on.
Everything went perfectly: we set the parameters, went for a walk with the dog and returned to the finished porridge. The delayed start worked flawlessly, and the «Milk porridge» program started automatically, without our intervention.
The porridge turned out excellent, but a bit thick for our taste. However, this can be easily corrected by adding more milk next time (or, conversely, less rolled oats).
Result: excellent
Carrot Cake (Baking program)
We had been planning to bake a carrot cake for a long time and finally took the opportunity when we got our hands on a multi-kitchen.
Ingredients:
- Flour — 340 g
- Cinnamon — 7.5 g
- Nutmeg — 4 g
- Soda — 8 g
- Sugar — 400 g
- Vegetable oil — 245 g
- Eggs — 4 pcs.
- Carrots — 275 g
We mixed the dry ingredients, and then beat the vegetable oil with sugar (200 g of regular and cane sugar) with a mixer. After adding the eggs, beat the mixture again and mixed in the dry ingredients and grated carrots. This is the mass we got for the future cake.
The recipe we used also called for poached pear and orange zest, but we won't dwell on that.
We divided the dough into three parts for three cakes. We poured the first part into the multi-kitchen bowl and selected the «Bake» program for 30 minutes. It is important to note that we lacked information about the temperature on this program: the recipe suggests baking the cakes at a temperature of 155°C. After half an hour, the cake seemed a little undercooked, so we used the «MasterChef Light» function and added another 10 minutes to the baking time.
For the subsequent cakes, we immediately set the time on the «Bake» program to 40 minutes.
The photo below shows the cake after the «Bake» program has finished.
When we cut off the top crust of the cake so that it could soak in the cream, it became obvious that the cake was perfectly baked:
We made the simplest cream for the cake:
- Butter — 200 g
- Icing sugar — 200 g
- Cremette cream cheese — 600 g
We layered the cakes and assembled the cake:
A separate piece of cake shows that the layers were baked perfectly:
Result: excellent
Conclusions
Working with the multi-kitchen turned out to be very convenient. This device is ideal for the cottage, as it replaces a saucepan, stove and oven, and the MasterFry function allows you to use it as a frying pan.
The multi-kitchen offers a wide range of functions: boiling, frying, baking, steaming, deep-frying, smoking, fondue and sous-vide dishes. It is also useful for sterilizing bottles and nipples if you have a baby, as well as for pasteurizing products and preparations.
Automatic programs cover most typical dishes. The default time and temperature settings are good for most recipes, but they can easily be changed right during the cooking process if necessary.
A multi-kitchen will be useful not only at the dacha, but also in everyday life. It allows you to cook food without having to constantly stand at the stove and stir the dishes. Instead, you can freely do something else, for example, read a book or work on the computer.
Pros:
- easy control
- multifunctionality
- ability to adjust temperature and time during cooking
- temperature setting with accuracy to the degree
- there is a button to disconnect from the network
- for cooking on the heating element, you can use not only the frying pan included in the set, but also other utensils
Cons:
- none found
