At first glance

The Redmond FM615 kitchen machine has a heavy and durable body, made entirely of metal with a matte, slightly rough to the touch, non-marking graphite coating. According to the manufacturer, the gears inside the unit are also made of metal.

Streamlined shapes and a thin curved leg add lightness to the design, connecting the motor unit to the base, which has a recess for installing the bowl.

The sockets for the attachments are securely closed with plugs, and the round touch panel is located on the front side of the motor unit, slightly protruding beyond the body.

The bottom of the body is equipped with four suction cups, which successfully dampen vibration during operation.

The bowl, equipped with a convenient large handle, has a small cone-shaped protrusion on the bottom. It is made of stainless steel. Although there is no measuring scale on the walls, we found that the volume of liquid, not reaching the edge of the bowl by a couple of centimeters, is 4 liters.

Control

Redmond FM615 is controlled via a touch screen. After connecting to the network, three buttons are displayed on the screen: «Start» (which also serves to confirm the selection and cancel), "-" and "+" for adjusting the speed and setting the timer.

When selecting a speed, a hint appears on the display with an image of the attachment it is suitable for:

  • 1 — hook
  • 2 — hook, mixing paddle
  • 3 — hook, mixing paddle
  • 4 — mixing paddle, meat grinder
  • 5 — whisk, meat grinder
  • 6 — whisk
  • 7 — blender

This information is only a recommendation, since the attachments can be used at any speed from 1 to 7. After selecting the desired mode, you need to press the «Start» button again and set the time if necessary. If the timer is not required, simply press «Start» again. The engine starts and the display shows the current operating time or the countdown if a timer is set. To stop the device, simply press «Start» again. Thus, the control of the device is extremely simple and intuitive, even without instructions.

Operation

Before using, we thoroughly washed all removable parts of the device and wiped the body with a damp and then dry cloth, allowing the parts to dry well.

The Redmond FM615 kitchen machine is convenient and easy to use. The heavy body remains in place under any load, and the suction cups on the legs effectively dampen vibration. The continuous operation time is limited to 10 minutes, and at speed 7 — two. We exceeded these limits several times, but the device did not overheat, did not turn off and did not make alarming sounds.

All attachments are installed very easily and intuitively. No effort is required, the fixation is reliable, and nothing dangles or flies off during operation.

Based on the results of testing, we came to the conclusion that the food processor successfully copes with all the declared functions and is suitable for both small volumes of products and large portions, up to several kilograms at a time.

Care

The food processor body can be cleaned with a slightly damp cloth or napkin. All parts that have come into contact with food should be washed under running water with a soft sponge and neutral detergent immediately after use. Do not use abrasive or aggressive chemicals. Only the metal bowl can be washed in the dishwasher.

Our measurements

The maximum power of the device was recorded when chopping tomatoes in a blender and was 440 W. The meat grinder operated on average at 300-330 W, the mixer at 140-160 W, and the vegetable cutter showed a consumption of about 80-90 W.

The power consumption for 1 minute of blender operation was 0.005 kW h. The meat grinder, working for 1 minute 10 seconds, showed the same value. For 7 minutes of mixer operation, the device consumed 0.010 kW h.

Practice tests

Blender: Chopping tomatoes (mandatory test)

We chopped the 0.5 kg Slivka tomatoes, cut into halves and quarters, at the recommended 7th speed.

Closer to the 15th second, the tomatoes had already become a homogeneous mass, but there were still large pieces in the blender glass. We continued chopping, and after another 15 seconds we achieved the desired result.

We decided to continue and started the blender for another half minute. The skin fragments became noticeably smaller, and the mass itself turned out even more airy.

The result for a blender included in a kitchen machine is quite good, but such grinding cannot be called ideal. An additional start did not change the situation.

Planetary mixer: kneading minced meat

In a bowl, we combined both minced meats from the previous tests, added ground black pepper and salt, and installed a mixing paddle on the motor block.

The container contained a total of 2 kg of minced meat. This volume was thoroughly mixed at speed 2 in just a couple of minutes.

Replaced the spatula with a hook attachment and sifted 700 g of flour into the bowl. Added 90 g of eggs, 10 g of salt, a tablespoon of vegetable oil and 300 ml of water at room temperature to the well in the center.

We started with the first speed and gradually moved to the second. The hook quickly collected the contents of the bowl into a dense elastic lump in just a couple of minutes. We only had to stop the food processor once to collect some flour that had stuck to the sides of the bowl. After 3 minutes, the dough no longer stuck to our hands and easily came off the sides of the container.

Planetary mixer: biscuit dough

Wheat flour — 200 g, sugar — 80 g, vanilla sugar — 10 g, baking powder — 10 g, eggs — 125 g, vegetable oil — 80 ml, lemon juice — 80 ml, a pinch of salt

A couple of eggs were broken into the bowl and the food processor was turned on at the second speed. Gradually adding sugar, we switched to the fourth, and then to the sixth. In the process, we added vegetable oil and freshly squeezed lemon juice. By the end of the fourth minute, the mass had significantly increased in volume and became airy. Then we switched to the second speed and carefully poured in the pre-sifted flour mixed with baking powder and salt. The whisk thoroughly mixed the dry ingredients into the egg mass. Once we had to stop the work to collect the uncaptured dough from the sides of the bowl. This stage took 3 minutes.

The dough was poured into molds and put into the oven preheated to 190 degrees for 20 minutes. The sponge cake turned out tender and airy.

Planetary mixer: whipping egg whites

In this test, we decided to see how the device would cope with a minimum volume of products for whipping. We poured 75 ml of egg whites into the bottom of the bowl and turned on the third speed.

After about a minute and a half, we gradually increased the speed to the sixth and soon got a thick, beautifully whipped foam. In total, we spent only three minutes on this result.

Vegetable cutter: beetroot and carrot (large and medium graters)

In this test, the food processor worked at the recommended fifth speed for a vegetable cutter. We started with beets. Small root vegetables had to be cut into two parts, and some into four parts. First, we used a large grater. The device easily handled the hard vegetables and produced neat shavings. 100 g of beets were processed in 30 seconds.

Very little went to waste.

The result of the work of the medium grater was also pleasing. The shavings are ideal, there is nothing to find fault with.

Next in the neck went the carrots. Also on a medium grater. And again everything is smooth, neat and beautiful.

Vegetable cutter: cabbage (shredder)

We decided to test the shredder on cabbage. Overall, the result was not bad, but it is worth considering that due to the different thickness of cabbage leaves, there will still be large pieces in the total mass, and the shavings will not be as even as when cutting with a knife. This is exactly what happened to us.

100 g of cabbage was shredded in 1 minute and 10 seconds. Not very fast, because I had to forcefully push the leaves with a pusher.

Result: good

Vegetable cutter: cucumber (shredder)

But the cucumber was chopped better and, naturally, faster — 100 g in just 15 seconds

We pushed it with a pusher lightly and only once, unlike the stubborn cabbage leaves. Again, there was very little waste.
