30.05.2024 08:34

The Rawmid Dream Samurai BDS-04 blender is a real dream for any user, as the manufacturer claims. In this case, the expression “a samurai without a sword is like a samurai with a sword, but without the sword” does not apply, since it is the eight blades of the device that determine its functionality. A powerful 8-blade knife made of Japanese stainless steel, according to the manufacturer, reaches up to 50 thousand revolutions per minute, ensuring fast and efficient chopping of products.

Let's check how well our samurai swings his sword and whether he is really as good as they promise us.

Equipment

The blender comes in classic packaging. On the black background of the box there is a photograph of the device, a brief description of its functions and features, as well as technical specifications. Additionally, the device is packaged in a technical cardboard box.

Opening the box we found:

  • motor block
  • 2 liter jug made of Tritan
  • jug lid
  • jug lid plug
  • pusher
  • silicone spatula
  • funnel
  • nut milk bag
  • Rawmid tritan bottle

At first sight

The base of the Rawmid Dream Samurai BDS-04 blender is stable and made of red plastic with a metallic sheen. When assembled, the blender looks impressive, with a large jug on top of the structure.

The Rawmid Dream Samurai BDS-04 blender not only impresses with its size, but is also stable thanks to its heavy base and four rubberized feet that provide reliable grip. There are special recesses on the sides of the motor block for easy carrying of the device.

The motor block panel contains simple and intuitive controls: power switch, pulse mode switch and rotary speed controller.

On the back panel of the blender there is brief information about all modes of the device with short comments. It also shows which dishes are best suited for each automatic program.

On the bottom surface of the device there are ventilation holes and additional ventilation grilles that provide effective cooling of the motor. This improves ventilation, increases the blender's uptime and improves its service life and reliability. Also on the bottom surface there is a nameplate with information about the manufacturer.

The blender jug is inserted into a special recess on the body. The device is equipped with a sensor that monitors the position of the jug on the motor block. If the bowl is not installed or is installed incorrectly, the blender will not start. This function prevents accidental activation and protects the device from possible damage.

The photo below shows a unique 8-blade 3D knife made from Japanese AISI 420 stainless steel, which is known for its increased strength and corrosion resistance. According to the manufacturer, «8 multi-directional blades provide the fastest and most efficient chopping of food. The lower blades leave virtually no 'dead zones', capturing food even at the bottom of the jug, and the upper blades effectively chop large, whole foods.»

The blade block of the blender is equipped with high-quality Japanese stainless steel bearings, which are highly wear-resistant and have a long service life. The high quality of this important part extends the life of the device and increases its overall reliability.

The knife is attached to the jug using a steel nut, which makes it easy to remove the knife block using a special key and replace it if necessary.

The two-liter jug is made of durable and environmentally friendly material — Tritan, which does not contain bisphenol-A and other harmful substances, as the manufacturer indicates on its website. He notes that tritan has high strength and resistance to temperature changes from +5 to +95 ° C. The thickness of the walls of the jug is 4 mm, providing reliable protection against possible damage.

A measuring scale in milliliters and ounces is marked on the walls of the jug on both sides. For ease of pouring contents, a special spout is provided. The ergonomic rubberized handle allows you to comfortably hold the jug from the side or bottom, preventing burns when handling hot ingredients.

There are four pins installed at the bottom of the jug to ensure proper installation of the jug on the motor unit and prevent accidental activation of the device.

The blender jar is sealed with a rubber lid with an inlet opening that can be used to add ingredients using a funnel or pusher. When the hole is not in use, it is closed with a transparent plug.

The pusher helps to chop hard products more efficiently by pushing them towards the knives; and in the instructions for the device there is a separate section devoted to the use of the pusher.

The funnel adds convenience when loading liquid or bulk ingredients into the bowl.

The silicone spatula is designed to remove food residues from the walls of the jug. Unlike many other accessories that often turn out to be useless, this spatula turned out to be quite useful. The blender jug is quite tall, and using a regular tablespoon is not always convenient. In addition, the back of the paddle is also functional and can be used if necessary.

The nut milk bag is designed to separate the liquid from the pulp and is suitable for making juice, nut milk or cheese. On the back of the tag there are brief instructions for using the bag: you need to pour the liquid from the blender into it and squeeze it out. It is recommended to carry out this procedure over a suitable container to avoid spillage.

Another optional accessory is a Tritan bottle that you can fill and take with you if necessary.

In general, we can say that the design of the blender is traditional, but supplemented with significantly improved design elements.

Instructions

The document is a brochure made of thick glossy paper in A5 format, including 32 pages in Russian and English. The instructions contain information about the structure and configuration of the blender, its technical characteristics, operating and maintenance rules, as well as details about the preparation of various dishes, the sequence of adding ingredients, recommendations for chopping products and using a pusher.

The instructions are also provided with illustrations, diagrams and photographs. The photo below shows the automatic blender operating programs, a table with which we provide below in the “Operation” section.

Control

Controlling the Rawmid Dream Samurai BDS-04 blender turned out to be simple and intuitive. There is a round speed and program switch on the front panel. Turning to the right smoothly adjusts the speed, and turning to the left allows you to select the automatic program for the blender.

To the upper left of the speed switch is the power switch, and to the upper right is the pulse mode toggle switch.

Exploitation

Interaction with the Rawmid Dream Samurai BDS-04 blender also did not cause any problems or difficulties. The device is easy to assemble and disassemble.

Before first use, it is recommended to wipe the device body with a damp cloth, and wash the removable parts with soapy water and dry thoroughly. We also pre-washed the nut milk bag.

Before turning on the appliance, make sure that the lid is installed on the blender jug and the food supply opening is closed. This is important to prevent possible splashes and crumbs flying around the kitchen. The manufacturer also recommends that you always hold the blender jug by the lid during operation, which we found reasonable, given the possible bouncing of the device due to changes in operating mode and power.

We have compiled a table with automatic work programs for clarity.

Mode numberRecommended dishesProgram running time
1smoothies, jams, purees, cocktails (including with ice)30 sec.
2grinding solid products and preparing sorbets, ice cream, nut butters. Suitable for crushing ice.90 sec.
3cream soup, porridge, baby food100 sec. (×3)
4nut milk, sports nutrition30 sec.
5grinding dry ingredients into flour60 sec.

The blender's continuous operation time is limited to 2 minutes, but with its high power, long-term use is usually not required. However, the device is equipped with overheating protection: if it gets too hot, it will automatically turn off. To restart the engine, there is a special button on the bottom of the engine block, but we did not encounter the need to use it during operation.

It is also important to mention that the blender is protected against accidental activation thanks to a sensor on the motor unit. If the jug is not installed or installed incorrectly, the appliance will not start.

The device also has built-in protection against voltage surges, which is especially important in old electrical networks. If there is a strong power surge, the blender will simply turn off without damaging itself, which increases its reliability and durability.

Finally, you should consider the size of the blender when placing it in the kitchen: its height is 54 cm, so it is recommended to provide a separate place for it, freed from kitchen cabinets.

Care

The basic rule when caring for a blender is to clean the device after each use and thoroughly wash the blender blade.

The motor unit should not be immersed in water or sprayed under running water. It is not recommended to use aggressive detergents or abrasive materials to clean other parts of the blender. None of the components of the blender can be washed in the dishwasher. The main method of care is hand washing using soapy water and a soft sponge or cloth.

Although the instructions for the blender do not mention the self-cleaning mode, you can pour 0.5-1 liter of water into the jug and pulse the mode several times, which is similar to the self-cleaning used in other blender models.

In general, caring for a blender is not particularly difficult.

Our measurements

The maximum power measured by a wattmeter reached 1116 W. It is important to note that the blender produces a high level of noise, which is due to its high power. However, since automatic operating modes do not allow longer than two minutes, the noise from the blender only lasts for a short time.

Practice tests

Tomato test

The first thing we did was conduct a traditional tomato test. We cut two tomatoes quite coarsely and put them in a blender.

We turned on mode 1, suitable for making smoothies, and after 30 seconds we got tomatoes that turned into puree.

We are pleased with the quality of the blender: even the tomato seeds were completely crushed, which can sometimes be problematic. Although a close look might have revealed small pieces of seeds, we did not run the blender again as it was not necessary. The tomato skins were completely crushed and we found no residue, turning the tomatoes into a smooth and homogeneous mass.

Result: excellent.

Tahini

Lately we couldn't help but think about making hummus. But first of all, you need to prepare tahini. What is needed for this? A little bit of everything: sesame seeds and oil.

We toasted the sesame seeds in a frying pan until lightly tanned.

And, taking advantage of the fact that the blender has mode 5, which grinds food into flour, we put the sesame seeds into the blender.

A small vortex has formed in the blender — in the left photo you can see how the sesame flour flies along the walls of the blender. The photo on the right shows the result after finishing the program. It is noticeable that the sesame was ground to a flour.

We added a couple of tablespoons of vegetable oil and started the blender on mode 1, intended for making smoothies. But the blender suddenly began to bounce, probably due to the light weight of the product, and we had to hold it with our hand. To better blend the tahini, we used the spatula from the accessory kit, scraped the sesame mixture off the sides, and ran the blender again on the same setting.

This way, the tahini was smooth, with no visible or noticeable sesame pieces or other additives.

Since we had a little more tahini than we needed to make the hummus, we decided to use it to make a vegetable salad dressing.

Added garlic through a crusher, a little lemon juice and a couple of tablespoons of olive oil to the paste, and also added a little salt. We did not add water, although it would have been possible if we wanted a thinner sauce.

Tomatoes, peppers and herbs were thoroughly washed. The right photo shows the finished tahini sauce.

We cut tomatoes and peppers, lettuce leaves of different types and added well-mixed tahini sauce to the bowl. The result was a delicious and beautiful salad of fresh vegetables.

Hummus

Step by step we came to making hummus.

Ingredients:

  • Chickpeas — 100 g
  • Lemon juice — 10 ml
  • Olive oil – 20 ml
  • Tahini – 40 g
  • Salt and spices to taste

The chickpeas were soaked overnight, and the next morning they were boiled for two hours until completely softened. Once the chickpeas were cooked, we drained off the liquid, reserving it for possible thinning of the hummus to a thinner consistency.

The cooked chickpeas were put into a blender, olive oil (extra virgin) was added and mode 2 was started. The result is visible in the photo on the right: the chickpeas were ground, but they were far from being like hummus, since we did not add any liquid except tahini, which was already in the blender to that moment.

So we added lemon juice and some chickpea cooking water to the chickpeas. We started the blender again on mode 2. The result pleased us, but it was still a bit thick.

Then we added more liquid from the chickpeas, salt and spices and got hummus of the consistency we needed:

The photo below shows the soft, homogeneous puree that we got when the blender finished working. No lumps or pieces of chickpeas — the hummus turned out smooth and tasty.

We spread it on sandwiches, although hummus can be used and eaten in many other ways.

Nut milk

“If almonds can become milk, then you can do anything!” — we read it on the Internet and decided to try it. We took 56 g of almonds and soaked them for several hours. After this, the almonds swelled and became a little softer.

Then we put it in the blender, added water in a 1:4 ratio and turned on mode 4 to prepare nut milk.

The blender is finished after 90 seconds, but you will need to strain the nut milk to make it. In the photo below you can see some nut residue in the liquid.

Then we took the bag for making nut milk that came with the blender and strained the liquid. The resulting almond cake (see photo on the right) can theoretically be used to prepare various dishes, but to be honest, we simply threw it away.

After straining, we have excellent almond milk — smooth, white, ready to use in smoothies and other healthy lifestyle products.

Since we didn't add anything to the milk (honey, cinnamon, or other spices are usually recommended), it was fairly neutral in flavor, although not particularly flavorful.

Result: excellent

Result: excellent

Smoothie with raspberry puree

We decided to move away from using nut milk for smoothies due to its unusual taste and decided to turn to regular unsweetened yogurt. Put raspberry puree, banana in a blender and pour over yogurt.

We started the blender in mode 1 to prepare a smoothie and after 30 seconds we got a wonderful drink.

Result: excellent

Result: excellent

Ground coffee

Ultimately, we still took the risk of grinding coffee in a blender. We decided not to select mode 5 (designed for grinding solid products into flour), but settled on mode 2 — for grinding solid products.

After 90 seconds, we received ground coffee, which turned out to be perfectly ground. Although it wasn't completely smooth, we're confident that if we had run the blender again on the flour setting, the result would have been amazing.

Nevertheless, we were pleased with this result.
