Equipment

The blender comes in a branded box made of thick white cardboard. The packaging contains photos of the device and accessories, a brief description of the functions, technical specifications and a list of accessories.

Opening the box we found:

  • Main unit
  • Mixing cup with lid
  • Chopper bowl with lid
  • S-shaped blade
  • Stainless steel blender attachment
  • Whisk
  • Garlic peeler attachment
  • and instruction manual

At first glance

The blender is a standard-type device — with a main unit and a set of accessories.

The motor unit is made of plastic and stainless steel, and the design itself is traditional for devices of this type.

On the front side of the device there are two large mechanical buttons. At the top there is a fastening for the power cord, and at the bottom there is a connector for attachments. On the top panel of the motor unit there is a mode switch.

In the photo below we see the blender attachment attached directly to the motor unit.

The blender attachment is made of stainless steel, and the blade consists of four blades: a pair of long serrated blades and a pair of short, sharp ones.

The whisk, made of stainless steel, is a traditional design.

The chopper bowl has a capacity of 500 ml and is made of transparent plastic. Volume marks in milliliters are applied to both sides of the bowl. The bowl is closed with a black plastic lid, into which the motor unit is inserted. The lid is tightly fixed in the bowl with rubber gaskets.

The chopper bowl comes with an S-shaped knife with 4 stainless steel blades.

The blender also comes with a garlic peeler attachment with fairly soft rubber spikes.

It is installed inside the chopper bowl.

The mixing glass is made of transparent plastic, the volume of the glass is 500 ml.

Instructions

The document is made in the form of a 20-page brochure made of glossy A6 paper in Russian. The manual describes in detail the design and configuration of the blender, its technical characteristics, as well as the rules for operating and caring for the device.

In addition, the manual is provided with schematic pictures that make it easier to understand the operating principles of the device and the purpose of the accessories.

Control

The controls were simple and intuitive. The only difficulty was that we did not immediately notice the speed control built into the top panel of the motor unit. The control allows you to smoothly switch between 8 speeds by turning it from 1 to 8.

The blender is started by pressing the top button, and the turbo mode is turned on using the Turbo button, which is located under the button for turning on the normal modes.

Actually, this is where we can finish the description of the control features of this device: extremely simple, as we said above.

Actually, this is where we can finish the description of the control features of this device: extremely simple, as we said above.

Operation

The operation of the device also did not raise any questions, except for a few subjective moments.

Firstly, we were a little confused by the apparent fragility of the device. We even weighed the motor unit and compared it with our home blender: the difference was only 10 g, which is not significant. Perhaps this is due to the attachment of the attachments to the motor unit, which does not look reliable, although in practice the attachments have never come off. In addition, the unusual blue color of the case, instead of the standard black, could have affected our perception. Thus, all these sensations turned out to be purely subjective.

Another point that raised our doubts is the shape of the chopper bowl. It is made in the form of a truncated cone, widening upwards, which makes the base less stable. Considering the weight of the rather heavy motor unit inserted into the bowl, you have to make sure that the structure does not tip over. Perhaps this shape of the bowl was chosen for better mixing of products, but visually the structure seems unstable.

Overall, the work of the Evolution HBS-0651 blender did not cause any objective complaints for a device of this class and power. This is a regular kitchen blender, capable of handling most everyday food preparation tasks.

Care

As always, the main advice for cleaning your blender is to clean it after each use to avoid food residues drying on it.

The motor unit, chopper lid and whisk attachment should not be immersed in water or rinsed under running water — they should be wiped with a damp cloth. The mixing cup, chopper bowl, whisk and blade are dishwasher safe. It is recommended to wash the blender attachment and garlic attachment by hand in soapy water.

Avoid using aggressive detergents and abrasive materials when cleaning the appliance.

Our measurements

During testing, we measured power consumption using a wattmeter. The maximum power recorded was 91 W when making a smoothie with frozen blueberries.

Tomato test (blender)

For the tomato dough, we took one tomato and cut it into fairly large pieces.

We put the tomato in a mixing glass, set the speed to 5 and got the following result in 1 minute:

The tomato mass was chopped and whipped, but there were pieces of skin and seeds left. It wasn't perfect, but it was good for a regular (not bar) blender.

Result: good

Cold cucumber soup (chopper)

Since the weather was hot, we decided to make cold cucumber soup.

Ingredients:

  • three cucumbers
  • cream cheese — 200 g
  • cream 10% — 100 g
  • garlic
  • cilantro
  • salt to taste

We put the cucumbers and cilantro through a chopper and got a finely dispersed green mass.

Then we added the cream cheese and cream and turned the chopper back on.

Everything was mixed well and ground again.

And then we happily ate the soup, although by the time it was ready the weather had already deteriorated.

Result: excellent

Banana Blueberry Smoothie (Blender)

For the banana and blueberry smoothie, we used, as you might expect, banana and blueberries. We used frozen blueberries, which makes them quite firm, and we cut the banana into large chunks. We poured yogurt over it all.

A minute later we got a pretty decent smoothie, that is, the blender coped with both the banana and the blueberries.

We poured the smoothie into a glass and enjoyed it for breakfast.

Peeled Garlic (Garlic Peeler Attachment)

The garlic peeler attachment and the very idea of mechanized peeling were the ones that we had the most doubts about. We couldn't imagine how this unusual attachment could effectively peel garlic.

We conducted our first experiment with young garlic that we had at home. The attachment didn't cope with the task, since young garlic is wet and it's hard to peel it even with a knife. To test the effectiveness of the attachment, we bought more mature garlic, not very old, but dried out. The photo shows that the husk separates from the cloves already when dividing the head into cloves.

Next, we sent this garlic into the chopper bowl with a pre-installed attachment for peeling garlic.

During the process, we turned off the device several times to check how the garlic was being peeled. In the end, after about a minute, we got the result shown in the photo below: the peel separated from most of the cloves, and only three cloves remained unpeeled. In our opinion, this is a pretty good result for such an attachment.

As the manufacturer promised, the slices themselves remained undamaged.

Result: good

Japanese Omelette "Tamago-yaki" (whisk)

We thought for a long time about what we could make with a whisk, and decided to make an omelette. But not just any omelette, something unusual. So we found a recipe for a Tamago-yaki omelette, a traditional Japanese dish that can be eaten on its own or used as an ingredient for rolls and hot sushi.

Ingredients:

  • 5 chicken eggs
  • 1 tbsp. soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp. rice vinegar
  • 2 tsp. sugar
  • 1 tbsp. vegetable oil
  • A pinch of salt

To make the omelette, we broke the eggs into a bowl and beat them with a whisk.

Then we added rice vinegar and soy sauce and beat again. The resulting mass is supposed to be strained through a sieve, but we, frankly speaking, were too lazy.

Then we poured some of the egg mixture onto the heated frying pan, creating a thin egg pancake. When one side of the pancake was fried, it needed to be rolled up and left on the edge of the frying pan or even completely removed from it.

After that, we poured the next portion of the egg mixture onto the frying pan, and placed a new pancake on one edge of the already rolled roll. As soon as the mixture set, we rolled the next roll using a spatula. Thus, the roll gradually increased in size, as you can see in the third photo below.

As a result, we got a rather large and thick omelette-pancake roll,

which was cut into pieces and, of course, eaten.
