The Meaning of Life

“The meaning of life” is a very big topic. It is a basic issue that everyone asks themselves from time to time, sometimes consciously but mostly unconsciously, and always searches for, even if they don’t ask. We, who “constantly have to give meaning to things” because of the ability called mind, desire our existence here to have a meaning as well.
We think of happiness as two things: pleasure and freedom from pain. There is one thing in common in the things we enjoy, including eating and sexual intercourse: It ends. As humans, we are the only beings who know that the food we eat, the relationship, or any activity that gives pleasure will end. We know that the pleasure we receive will end, so on the one hand, we experience the sadness of it ending while on the other hand it gives us a lot of pleasure.
