The heroine of today's review is an electric sonic toothbrush. It is equipped with a timer that automatically turns off the device after two minutes of operation. Every 30 seconds, the brush pauses, reminding the user of the need to change the cleaning zone. According to the manufacturer, the battery provides the brush with operation for a month without recharging.

Our task, in addition to assessing the technical characteristics, is to describe our own feelings from getting to know and directly interacting with the Redmond TB4601 toothbrush.

Equipment

The Redmond TB4601 toothbrush is packed in a compact white box with an elegant, discreet design, made on high-quality cardboard with excellent printing. All the necessary information on the packaging allows the user to get a complete picture of the appearance and characteristics of the device.

Inside the package there is a plastic insert with compartments specially designed for storing various components of the device:

  • electric toothbrush body
  • two standard nozzles with protective caps
  • charger with cable
On top of everything was the instruction manual.

On top of everything was the instruction manual.

At first glance

The toothbrush is made mainly of black plastic. The matte surface does not slip and does not collect fingerprints. The brush with the attached nozzle weighs 120 g, which makes it convenient to use. The front side of the body contains the controls: the power button and indicators.

On the back of the case, at the top, there are three ribbed protrusions that help you control the brush by touch, without being distracted by its appearance. These protrusions also prevent slipping. Just below you can find a sticker with the serial number and model of the device.

Note that the shape of the body is not strictly cylindrical, the diameter narrows towards the top. Thanks to the shape of the body and the pleasant to the touch surface, it is easy and comfortable to hold the device in your hands.

The upper metal part, protected by a cap, contains a drive shaft on which the nozzle is fixed. All joints are neat, smooth, without gaps.

On the bottom of the body there is a hole for installation on the docking station. The charging base is made of glossy plastic. On the top of the base there are two sockets: one is larger and deeper — for charging the brush, the other is smaller, with a blue ring, designed to store the second nozzle, used or spare. The length of the cord is 125 cm, which is supposed to be enough for convenient placement of the charging base in the bathroom.

The Redmond TB4601 toothbrush comes with two identical attachments. Bristles from the American manufacturer DuPont penetrate deep between the teeth, effectively removing plaque and gently massaging the gums. The cleaning head is of a standard size, and the attachments themselves look neat and well-made.

A protective cap made of transparent plastic can be put on the working part of the nozzle. It protects the bristles from contact with foreign objects, and thanks to the well-thought-out shape, the bristles can dry freely, since the cap does not fit tightly to the nozzle.

Instructions

The user manual is made in the form of a sheet of thick glossy paper, folded like an accordion with four folds. The font is small, which may create difficulties in reading for people with insufficiently sharp vision. The information is presented in two languages: on one side — instructions in Russian, on the other — in Kazakh.

The manual is easy to understand thanks to the structured text, supplemented by illustrations and diagrams. It describes safety precautions (including the unexpected requirement not to immerse the device body under water), technical specifications, operating and maintenance rules for the device. Particularly noteworthy is the section on operating modes, control and rules for using the toothbrush. In general, one quick look at the manual will be enough to start using the device.

Control

The Redmond TB4601 toothbrush is controlled by pressing the only button on the body.

Pressing the button once turns the brush on in the last used mode. To switch to another mode, press the button again. Pressing it again turns on the third pulsation mode.

The brush has three operating modes:

  • Clean — standard mode for daily care.
  • Sensitive — gentle mode for sensitive teeth and gums.
  • Massage — pulsation mode for deep cleaning and gentle massage of the gums.

The brush remembers the last used mode, so the next time you turn it on, it will work in this mode. Every 30 seconds, the brush pauses to remind you to change the cleaning zone. The indicator of the current mode lights up white, and the battery level is displayed in green.

The brush automatically turns off after two minutes of operation or after switching to the fourth mode. Long pressing the power button interrupts the cleaning cycle. When you turn it on again or switch the mode, the countdown starts over.

The battery indicator did not change its appearance during two weeks of testing, but according to the instructions, it should turn red when the charge level is low. In this case, the brush should be placed on the charging base. During charging, the indicator flashes green, and when fully charged, it lights up constantly.

The Redmond TB4601 toothbrush is intuitive and easy to operate, even for children.

Operation

Before using the brush, the manufacturer recommends wiping the body of the brush with a damp cloth and fully charging the battery, which takes 12.5 hours.

The nozzle is easily attached to the body: just install it on the shaft until it stops. You can remove the nozzle with a little effort by pulling it up.

The procedure for brushing your teeth with the Redmond TB4601 brush is no different from using any other electric toothbrush. Before you start brushing, moisten the bristles of the nozzle with water and apply toothpaste. Then turn on the brush and select the desired mode. The purpose of the modes has already been mentioned. For the first use or with sensitive teeth, it is recommended to select the softest mode — Sensitive.

The wireless charging station is convenient, especially if charging is only required once a month. There are no connectors on the brush body, only a recess at the bottom. To charge, simply place the brush in the socket on the base and plug the plug into the outlet. The charging station also provides a place to store a spare nozzle.

The weight of the brush is comfortable, the hand does not get tired after two minutes of use. The body does not slip, and the bristles and operating modes do not cause discomfort, although this is subjective. We did not feel any unpleasant tickling sensations that sometimes occur with other sonic brushes.

The instructions warn against immersing the body in water, which is difficult to comply with during normal use. However, the manufacturer's website states that the brush with IPX7 protection can withstand short-term immersion, so using it in the shower is acceptable.

After two weeks of use, the Redmond TB4601 brush has proven itself to be reliable and easy to operate. Cleaning and operation of the device is satisfactory, the battery holds a charge well, the indicator at the end of testing remained bright and stable.

Care

Caring for your toothbrush is simple and includes a few simple rules. After each use, thoroughly rinse the nozzle. If your toothpaste contains peroxides or bicarbonates, it is recommended to wash the bristles with soapy water and rinse well. The body of the brush should be wiped with a soft damp cloth or sponge, and the charging station — only with a dry cloth. It is prohibited to wash the device and accessories with rough or abrasive agents, as well as use chemically aggressive agents.

It is recommended to replace the replacement nozzle approximately every three months. Use only those nozzles that are included in the kit or recommended by the manufacturer.

Two sets of compatible nozzles are offered for this Redmond toothbrush: N4703, which includes three nozzles of different hardness (soft, medium and hard), and N4702, consisting of two identical nozzles similar to those included in the kit. At the time of publication, the price of the sets is about $8-$10.

Our measurements

Before the first use, the device took 11 hours and 50 minutes to charge. It was not possible to completely discharge the battery during testing. Given that two people used it twice a day, and sometimes more often, it can be confirmed that the manufacturer's stated operating time without recharging for a month is true.

The timer works accurately: there is a short pause every 30 seconds, and automatic shutdown occurs after exactly two minutes.

The noise level is low and corresponds to the level of other sonic toothbrushes. The sound varies in volume and tone depending on the selected mode. The manufacturer specifies a noise level of up to 52 dBA.

Conclusions

The Redmond TB4601 electric toothbrush made an impression of a convenient and easy-to-care-for and easy-to-use device. It offers three operating modes, a two-minute timer and pauses every 30 seconds. Of particular note is the powerful battery, which provides the device with a month of operation without recharging.

The docking station with a built-in wireless charger, which is an integral part of the brush, is a clear advantage. In combination with a powerful battery that allows you to go without recharging for up to 30 days, using the device becomes very convenient. The stand can also store a spare nozzle. However, there is a small inconvenience: the nozzles are identical and of the same color, which makes it difficult to distinguish them within the family. Users will either have to immediately purchase nozzles of different colors or use alternative marking methods, such as bright nail polish, which, unfortunately, does not look very neat.

Pros:

  • Ease of operation and three cleaning modes
  • Wireless charging
  • A month of operation without recharging
  • Two attachments included
  • Automatic shutdown

Cons:

  • Quite a high price
  • The standard attachments are absolutely identical, which makes it difficult to identify brushes in the family
