Equipment

The testing device was presented in stylish packaging as a gift, where the main box was carefully hidden in an elegant cardboard case. It proudly featured the slogan: “Always a reason to smile,” with the brand name and an image of white flowers on a pastel background. The main box was a branded pencil case, on the top white cover of which the image of the irrigator was printed, as well as the brand name and quality certificates.

The cover is very, very difficult to remove

The entire box was pure white, with the exception of the back, where the main characteristics were listed in four languages, the brand name, the full model name were indicated, and the equipment and advantages were also schematically indicated. At the bottom there were barcodes, an indication of the color (turquoise in this case), and the addresses of the manufacturer and importer.

The lid tightly closes the box, inside of which there is a special plastic holder for the irrigator itself. Underneath there is a separate box for the adapter with a wire, and the rest of the parts are placed at the bottom.

The kit includes:

  • irrigator
  • three standard nozzles
  • USB cable
  • adapter
  • case for storing and carrying the device
  • user manual, warranty card, memo

At first sight

The main expectation from a portable irrigator is compactness, and in this case there is nothing to complain about: the box, installation system and the device body itself look very neat. The design of the Polaris PWF 1002 T is elegantly simple. This is a small retractable turquoise pencil case that easily fits in a man's palm when assembled. It is convenient to store it in a travel bag or handbag, or place it on a sink or nightstand. The transparent nozzle visually increases the size, the device expands in one smooth movement and is easily fixed in the open position.

After sliding out the top part of the irrigator, a control panel with three sections opens: a charging and mode indicator, a mode switch and a power button. Above the panel there is a button for the nozzle socket; when pressed, the neck opens, which allows you to insert or remove the nozzle. The nozzle in the socket can rotate 360 degrees.

On the side there is a charging port, and behind it is a hole for filling water. The lower part of the irrigator is a water reservoir with two marks: 100 ml and 200 ml. Both holes are closed with neat plugs. The volume of 200 ml is enough for thorough cleaning. Thanks to the small size and shape of the device, it is easy to grasp with one hand, and the control panel is convenient to control with your thumb. The irrigator feels light and pleasant.

Charging of the portable Polaris PWF 1002 T is carried out via a standard USB cable, which can be connected to a laptop, power bank or the included adapter. It takes 4 hours to fully charge, but can be used within an hour. The total operating time, according to the instructions, is 120 hours, but we used it intensively for 5 working days, and the device did not run out of charge.

The light weight of the irrigator is another of its advantages. It is pleasant to use for adults of any age (we tested it on three people: 23, 46 and 62 years old). Although the device is intended for use from the age of 14, we let a six-year-old girl simply hold it and press the buttons. She easily manipulated the Polaris PWF 1002 T without experiencing any discomfort from the weight or design. The appearance of the device was rated by all participants in the experiment as “pleasant,” “cute,” and “cute.”

The battery is well protected in the waterproof housing, so it is safe to use in bathrooms, at home or at work. We always take it with us in a case and, when necessary, take it out, extend it, attach the nozzle, fill it with water and select a mode.

There are four modes available, which are called: soft, medium, strong and massage. They can be easily switched at the touch of a button, and the indicator shows the selected mode. There is a smart chip installed inside the device that remembers the last used mode and automatically turns it on the next time you use it. It is best to discuss with your dentist which regimen to start with.

The children noticed that water easily passed through the nozzle, as if through a straw. Although this knowledge is not very important, it gave us the idea to check whether water would flow from the switched off device. Yes, from all the holes and quite intensely. Therefore, when transporting in a bag, it is better to first thoroughly drain the water.

The same applies to the posture and technique of using the device; it is often a matter of habit and comfort. According to the instructions, the nozzle should be directed towards the gums and teeth so that the water flows vertically down. The set includes three identical classic attachments in different colors to differentiate their users.

On the base of the Polaris PWF 1002 T there is a service sticker with the main characteristics and a barcode.

Instructions

A small black brochure-book on glossy paper contains information in Russian and Kazakh. It describes in detail the basics of operation, scope of application, equipment, charging process, installation and removal of attachments, management, disposal rules, as well as recommendations for storage and transportation. Safety, technical specifications, certification, authentication and brand warranty information are also covered in detail. The manual is provided with diagrams and the text is clear and detailed. The nice thing is that the instructions can be downloaded from the website if the paper version is lost. Included is an additional one-page guide with answers to frequently asked questions about caring for your irrigator.

Control

After filling the tank with water and installing the nozzle, we proceed to control. As mentioned above, the control panel has three sections: with power and mode switching buttons, and below them are mode indicators. First, select the desired mode, then turn on the device — one smooth press is enough for this.

The irrigator has four cleaning modes in total. When using for the first time, it is recommended to choose a soft mode to give yourself time to adapt to the procedure and avoid possible gum irritation. It is important to remember that the irrigator is not a replacement for a toothbrush, but only complements its effectiveness.

Officially the modes are as follows:

  • Soft — suitable for beginners or people with sensitive gums.
  • Medium — classic cleaning under normal pressure.
  • Strong — for intensive cleaning.
  • Massage — for deep cleaning, hard-to-reach places and prevention of gum health.

On the control panel they differ in the number of strokes.

Exploitation

Before use, we washed and charged the device, chose a place for it and filled the container with water, then began to study the modes. We previously discussed options with our dentist, took into account the manufacturer's recommendations and began cleaning.

The nozzle control button is located on the top of the irrigator, which prevents accidental pressing. The sliding design is easy to put back together, even if there is water left on the device. We found that it is better not to put pressure on the irrigator from above and avoid experimenting with it. Although the worst case is simply a spill of water from accessible cracks.

The water filling hole conveniently allows the flow from the tap to flow through. The manufacturer recommends using warm, but not hot water without impurities. Hard water can lead to sediment buildup, so water temperatures between 35 and 40°C are considered optimal.

It is not recommended to leave water in the irrigator after use; any remaining water should be drained. It is also recommended to rinse the device before each use.

General recommendations for directing the water stream towards the gums and teeth so that the water flows from top to bottom. After selecting a mode, you should remove your fingers from the control panel so as not to accidentally switch or turn off the device.

The transport case is a convenient gray cloth bag. It is easy to assemble and disassemble, dries quickly and can be washed with water. The irrigator becomes an unnoticed companion both at work and during leisure, and its use does not cause confusion. This is an aesthetic alternative to a toothbrush or dental floss.

Care

At the end of the cleaning procedure, be sure to empty the remaining water from the tank. For more complete cleaning, you can turn on the device for a while so that drops of water come out through the nozzle. If necessary, it is recommended to rinse the tank; it is advisable to do this before each use with plain water, and also once a week with lukewarm water.

The manufacturer prescribes regularly disinfecting the nozzles by immersing them for several minutes in a solution of hydrogen peroxide (3%) or chlorhexidine (1%), and then simply rinsing them with water. If the nozzles are deformed, it is recommended to replace them; the total service life of one nozzle is no more than six months.

The body of the device can be easily cleaned with warm running water; if necessary, you can use a soft cloth and soap.

Then the device should be dried or wiped, and, if necessary, put into a box or case. If the device has not been used for some time, it is recommended to rinse it and charge it thoroughly before use.

Polaris PWF 1002 T can be transported by any means of transport, but exposure to rain, frost and aggressive environments should be avoided. The device should be protected from heat, direct sunlight and shock. Do not use iodine, bleaches, essential oils, or mouthwashes in the device unless they are intended for use with irrigators.

It must be remembered that using the device without an attachment can lead to its breakdown. Finally, it should be noted that it is not recommended to wash the irrigator in the dishwasher.
