Honor 200 and Honor 200 Pro are sub-flagship smartphones with advanced technical characteristics, elegant design and unique photography functions. While we are finishing testing and preparing detailed reviews, we can already share our first impressions.
About design
The design of both novelties practically does not differ from each other — they resemble twin brothers. They have the same matte back panels with barely noticeable patterns, the same metallized side frames with a chrome shine, and the same type of camera block, the shape of which resembles an ellipse or oval. The manufacturer has been experimenting with such a form for several years, seeing in it a connection with the star theme and the orbits of the planets.
Despite this, the design of smartphones can be called attractive. They look strict, stylish and quite expensive, although there are no premium materials here. The back panel is not made of glass, but of matte plastic with interesting color gradients — in the white version, it resembles mother-of-pearl with a light shine in the world. Other colors also have their own features. The side frame is also not metal, but made of metallized plastic, which with its smooth shine resembles chrome metal.
The screens differ only slightly in size, so both smartphones are almost identical in size. The comfortable shape combines slightly rounded edges of the panels and left flat areas on the sides to ensure a reliable grip. Smartphones lie confidently in the hands, do not slide like a polished stone, and provide a comfortable hold.
About screens
The older model, Honor 200 Pro, is equipped with a 6.78-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 1224 × 2700 (aspect ratio 20: 9), protected by glass with curved edges. The physical size of the matrix is 71 × 157 mm, and the pixel density is 437 ppi. The screen supports a refresh rate of 120 Hz.
The Honor 200 screen also deserves attention, although its parameters are slightly different. This is also an AMOLED display, but with a diagonal of 6.7 inches and a resolution of 1200 × 2664 (20: 9), protected by flat glass. The physical size of the matrix is 70 × 156 mm, the pixel density is 436 ppi. The refresh rate is also 120 Hz.
Both screens have high maximum brightness, sufficient for comfortable use even in bright sunlight. High-quality oleophobic coating is also present. These characteristics were confirmed in practice during a photo shoot under the hot summer sun of Dagestan — there were no problems with visibility.
About iron
Honor 200 Pro, as the senior representative of the series, is equipped with a powerful hardware platform that provides high performance. It has a modern Qualcomm SM8635 Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 processor, which, despite its sub-flagship status, is almost as good as top chips. The eight-core processor is complemented by an Adreno 735 graphics processor. The RAM is 12 GB (LPDDR5X), and the built-in storage is 512 GB (UFS 4.0). As a result, the smartphone reaches almost 1.3 million points in AnTuTu, which indicates its ability to cope with any resource-intensive tasks and the most demanding games. Honor 200, in turn, is equipped with a less powerful, but still very productive SoC Qualcomm SM7550-AB Snapdragon 7 Gen 3. This chip also has 8 processor cores, and the Adreno 720 GPU is responsible for graphics. Depending on the version, the smartphone is equipped with 8 or 12 GB of RAM (LPDDR5X) and 256 or 512 GB of built-in storage (UFS 4.0). In AnTuTu, this device scores about 800 thousand points.
About the filling
Both smartphones run on the latest MagicOS 8 software platform, which is based on Android 14. The interface has a laconic design, is highly optimized, and provides smooth and fast operation. All the necessary settings are available to the user, while Google services are fully supported and there is access to the Google Play Store.
Also presented is the Magic Capsule function, which allows you to use the front camera eye as a control element, for example, to control music. Magic Capsule displays the current status of applications and provides access to quick actions with one click.
Magic Portal is a new way to interact with content and transfer texts and images between applications, using the capabilities of artificial intelligence. One gesture allows you to select an address for navigation, create a note with text, search for products by images, share photos on social networks and perform other actions that usually require several steps and switching between applications.
About cameras
The main camera of the older model is equipped with the proven flagship H9000 sensor. The camera supports dual stabilization (OIS + EIS), and the Shape Memory Alloy (SMA) drive combines autofocus (AF) and optical image stabilization (OIS), which speeds up focusing and increases image stability when shooting in low light conditions or while moving.
Honor 200 Pro demonstrates very high shooting quality. Images have excellent detail, clarity and sharpness, and the dynamic range allows you to avoid overexposure and dips in the shadows. Contrast and image volume are high, and there is virtually no noise. Below are examples of photos taken with the main camera of the Honor 200 Pro.
The regular version of Honor 200 has a different main camera. It uses a Sony IMX906 sensor (1/1.56") with a resolution of 50 MP, a lens with an aperture of f/1.95 and a pixel size of 1.0 μm. The camera is also equipped with phase autofocus PDAF and an optical stabilizer. Below are examples of photos taken with the main camera of Honor 200. We will tell you more about the cameras in full reviews of new products.
Honor highlights the Honor 200 portrait mode, developed in collaboration with specialists from the Harcourt studio. The artificial intelligence used in the Honor AI Portrait mode applies the studio's artistic techniques. Examples of portraits taken using this mode are presented on the Honor 200 Pro camera.
