After the Avengers are disbanded following an attack by one of the oldest members of the team, a sinister enemy takes advantage of their absence to enact their dark plan. He hires Electro to disrupt the electrical systems of a maximum security prison called the Raft, and hundreds of super-powered villains begin wreaking havoc on New York City. With no Avengers to intervene, the heroes must suddenly act as a team to capture the villains who are wreaking havoc and save the city. This new team fills the void left by the Avengers at the most critical moments of the battle - they are now the NEW AVENGERS!
