From the dive bars of Denver, Colorado, to the seedy motels of Columbus, Ohio, Fante Bukowski inhabited a literary tradition that is as identifiable and indispensable to American literature as it is at odds with our contemporary mores: a tradition of toxic masculinity, white privilege, daddy issues, alcoholism, and narcissism in the name of art. This landmark book brings together three of Bukowski’s legacy--Fante Bukowski, Fante Bukowski Two, and Fante Bukowski Three: A Perfect Mistake. Written by cartoonist Noah Van Sciver, whose previous biography, The Hypo: The Melancholic Young Lincoln (2012), tells the story of another young dreamer who rose to prominence in American literature, The Complete Works of Fante Bukowski also revives Bukowski’s first self-published book, Six Poems, which was meticulously restored for this collection after the first edition was destroyed in a motel fire. Novelist Ryan Boudinot (Blueprints of the Afterlife) writes a new introduction to this volume, which also includes a selection of "visual tributes" to Bukowski by many important artists who have been influenced by his work.
