A steam generator essentially performs the same functions as an iron, but thanks to its greater power and built-in boiler, it provides faster and better ironing, and does not require frequent refilling of water even with a large volume of items.
Today we will review the Polaris PSS 7570K steam generator, with a power of 3000 W and a built-in 1.5 l tank. The device is designed for both dry ironing and steaming in horizontal and vertical positions. During the test, we will evaluate all its functions and find out how effectively it copes with ironing.

Equipment
Polaris PSS 7570K comes in a medium-sized cardboard box with high-quality full-color printing. The sides of the package feature an image of the device itself, listing its key benefits and indicating its main technical specifications.
Inside the package, the steam generator is firmly clamped in a polyethylene bag with two foam inserts. The device comes with instructions and a warranty card.
At first glance
The design of Polaris PSS 7570K differs from the usual for such devices — the iron is fixed vertically on a base with a platform. This not only gives the device an original appearance, but also allows it to take up a minimum of space.
The color scheme, the materials of the body and the iron itself, the streamlined shapes and the neat assembly — all this makes the steam generator very attractive.
The base of the device is made of translucent smoky plastic. Inside the vertical part there is a boiler with a declared volume of 1.5 liters, but in fact up to the Max mark it holds 1250 ml.
The water filling compartment is tightly closed with a lid. Under it is an oval opening almost 3 cm wide.
For easy refilling of the tank, the set includes a 200 ml plastic measuring cup.
There are seven rubberized pads on the base. They can hardly be called legs, as they barely protrude, but they provide additional grip and protect the surface from scratches.
The steam hose can be conveniently wrapped around the base for storing the device. For this purpose, two deep plastic loops are provided, which also partially accommodate the 175 cm long power cord. This allows you to store the device neatly and compactly.
The length of the steam hose with thread braiding is 150 cm, and the place where it is attached to the iron is protected by a durable rubber casing.
The iron is securely fixed in a vertical position by a recess in the lower part of the base and two upper latches. They enter the groove for buttons on the sole of the iron, closer to the spout, which prevents it from falling when carrying the device. To unlock the mechanism, you need to turn the small handle on the boiler lid counterclockwise.
Lock in open position
To prevent the hot iron from coming into contact with the plastic, the coating is equipped with rubber pads.
The standard iron is quite heavy (1.3 kg), and this is immediately noticeable, even without prolonged use. The teardrop-shaped sole is equipped with a non-stick ceramic coating, with an unusual arrangement of holes for steam release. Most of them are concentrated in the upper part of the sole, and below, on the sides, the holes go in one row. The areas with holes are slightly recessed into the surface of the sole.
The iron holds upright on a table or ironing board perfectly. The tight steam hose does not interfere with this, as there is a special cutout for it in the base.
The iron handle is covered with matte plastic. Above the grip area there is a display with indicators and three mechanical buttons that are not covered by the hand and are conveniently located under the thumb. On the inside there is a familiar steam button that is easy to press with the index finger.
The build quality of the steam generator is high. No defects were found during the inspection of the device. All parts are tightly fitted, and the materials of the body and iron look good.
Instructions
The operating manual is presented in the form of a brochure printed in three languages: Russian, Ukrainian and Kazakh.
The instruction manual for the device is logically structured and written in simple and understandable language. Most sections are accompanied by illustrations. The manual contains a description of the device design, operating and management instructions, as well as recommendations for care and storage.
At the end of the document there is a summary table with explanations of the causes of possible malfunctions and methods for their elimination, information on certification and warranty obligations.
Control
The steam generator is controlled by three mechanical buttons on the iron handle. The lower button, judging by the icon on it, is designed to turn the device on and off. When you press it, automatic heating begins, and an icon symbolizing steam lights up on the display.
As soon as the indicator starts to glow steadily, you can start ironing. If you need steam, you need to press the button on the inside of the handle and hold it until steam appears. It will come out of the nozzles while the button is pressed.
In addition to the main mode, Polaris PSS 7570K has an Eco mode. According to the manufacturer, in this mode the heating of the iron remains the same, but the steam comes with less force. To activate the Eco mode, you need to press the Set button once when the steam indicator glows steadily. Pressing it again will return the device to the main mode. We will talk about this in more detail in the sections «Operation» and «Our measurements».
If the boiler runs out of water, the indicator with the image of a tap will light up on the display. You can add water to the tank without turning off the device, and the icon will go out.
The steam generator is equipped with a self-cleaning function, which is activated by the button to the left of the power button. When activated, the corresponding indicator lights up and three short beeps are heard.
To turn off the device, press and hold the power button for two seconds. If the iron is not used for 10 minutes, it automatically goes into standby mode and stops heating. If you leave the device unattended for another 30 minutes, it will turn off completely.
Operation
Before using the iron, we cleaned the soleplate with a damp and then dry cloth and filled the boiler with filtered water to the Max mark, as indicated in the instructions. After connecting to the network and pressing the power button, the steam generator heats up for 30 seconds. A full tank with active steam supply was enough for about 25 minutes of clean operation of the device.
The steam comes out in a powerful and continuous stream without delays. According to our feelings and based on the results on the fabric, wattmeter readings and water consumption in the boiler, we did not notice any changes in the power of the steam flow when switching to Eco mode. In the main mode, as it turned out, the steam power is regulated by the force of pressing the button.
The heating of the iron is quite uniform over the entire surface and stable, like similar devices. It heats up to the maximum temperature, then cools down a little (by 15-20 °C) and again reaches peak values. Water droplets from the steam holes occasionally fell on the fabric (about three or four times during the entire time), but quickly evaporated without leaving stains. The smooth sole does not cling to the fabric, and the shape of the nose fits perfectly between buttons, in pockets and darts. The iron is comfortable to hold, the control buttons are not pressed accidentally, but its weight is a little more than we would like, and when steaming vertically, your hand can quickly get tired.
Vertical steaming is effective for medium-weight and lighter materials, but we noticed that the steam comes out more slowly and a little weaker than with horizontal steaming. Sometimes, when holding down the steam button, we had to return the iron to a horizontal position for a few seconds and then quickly lift it back up so that the steam flow becomes more powerful.
The body of the device does not heat up during operation. The steam supply is accompanied by a quiet hiss, and the sounds when pressing the control buttons are also quiet and do not cause irritation.
Care
The body of the device and the sole of the iron can be cleaned with a slightly damp soft cloth. It is not recommended to use hard napkins, scratchy sponges, vinegar or other aggressive chemicals.
Self-cleaning should be carried out periodically. To do this, fill the tank with water, connect the device to the network and press the corresponding button. At this point, the iron should be in a horizontal position over the sink. The process, including the release of steam and water from the iron nozzles, lasts 2 minutes. After completion, a beep will sound, the indicator will go out, and the device will automatically turn off. Then it remains to drain the remaining water from the boiler and wipe the sole of the iron.
Our measurements
The maximum recorded power consumption of the Polaris PSS 7570K was 3012 W, and in Eco mode — 2945 W. In one hour of operation with active steam supply, the device consumes 2.148 kW h.
We measured the temperature of the sole immediately after heating in both modes. Depending on the measurement point, the temperature of the sole varied from 140 to 150 °C.
Practice tests
T-shirt with print
In this test, it is important for us to understand how the print will behave when ironed and steamed. Contrary to the rules, the product was processed from the front side.
Just a couple of minutes and we have an ironed T-shirt. The print is fine.
Result: excellent
Shirt made of thick cotton fabric
In this test, we tidied up a heavily wrinkled and over-dried shirt made of thick cotton fabric in a folded form.
The steam supply was turned on almost all the time, with its help we were able to quickly smooth out the wrinkled material and only failed to cope with the strong creases along the bottom edge of the shirt.
For comparison, we took another equally wrinkled shirt made of thinner fabric. Everything turned out perfect here.
Result: good on thick fabric and excellent on thinner material
Jeans
Next up were jeans that had been creased by washing and spinning at high speed. With a constant supply of steam, all the creases disappeared after one or two passes and the jeans began to look neat.
Result: excellent
Denim dress
It took us only about ten minutes to iron a heavily wrinkled medium-weight denim dress. With occasional steam, we successfully smoothed out the fabric and also steamed the waistband, collar, and button placket well.
Result: excellent
Kitchen towel made of linen and cotton blend
We managed to smooth out a heavily chewed linen-cotton blend towel in just four strokes with a constant supply of steam.
Result: excellent
Organza
Before testing, we washed the organza and dried it in a crumpled form on a radiator.
Although the iron had only one heating level, the soleplate temperature was safe for delicate fabrics and did not damage them. At first, we ironed in one layer without steam, and the result in terms of speed and quality of smoothing was quite satisfactory. Then we folded the fabric in half and made sure that the process was also successful, although a little slower. Later, we began to periodically add steam, which significantly increased the speed of processing the material. There were no snags left on the perfectly ironed fabric.
Result: excellent
Knitted sweater (vertical steaming)
The jersey blouse was processed vertically. We held the bottom edge of the blouse with one hand and moved the iron tightly along it with the other.
The steam generator coped with the task quite quickly, and overall the result was not bad. However, as we have already mentioned, the weight of the iron causes noticeable tension in the hand from the first minutes of work. In addition, when processing vertically, the steam does not come out as strong and powerfully as in the horizontal position.
We found a solution: it is enough to periodically move the iron from the vertical to the horizontal position, while holding down the steam button. At the moment of a powerful release of steam, you can immediately bring the iron vertically to the fabric. The steaming result was good, but, ultimately, it is easier to return to the ironing board.
Result: good
Conclusions
Polaris PSS 7570K is a compact and powerful device designed for home textile care. The device provides a significant flow of steam, which makes it effective in combating creases and folds, although it may not cope as effectively with particularly strong and persistent creases on very dense fabrics.
The only drawback we noted is the use of the device as a vertical steamer. The iron is too heavy, and for some unknown reason, the powerful steam flow in this position works worse than with horizontal steaming. Although the soleplate of the iron has only one heating level, during testing we found that this temperature is suitable for both delicate fabrics and thicker denim.
The obvious advantages of the device include a 30-second preparation time for work, convenient and high-quality fixation of the iron on the platform, which makes it easier to carry, as well as a convenient shape of the soleplate and its coating. It is also worth highlighting the self-cleaning and automatic shutdown functions.
Pros:
- Beautiful design, compact size and convenient construction
- Quick readiness for use
- Powerful supply and optimal distribution of steam
- Easy sliding and good shape of the soleplate
- Automatic shutdown when idle
Cons:
- The iron is heavier than I would like
- Steam output is worse when steaming vertically
