17.09.2024 09:30

If it is not possible to build a dishwasher into a kitchen unit or install a full-size model, and you do not want to wash dishes by hand, you can consider a compact tabletop solution, for example, Candy CP 6F51LW-08.

This compact and stylish dishwasher fits easily on a standard kitchen countertop without taking up much space. At the same time, its capacity is 6 place settings, as stated by the manufacturer. The model offers 5 automatic programs, the ability to partially load, a timer with a delayed start, lock, pause and memory functions, as well as indicators for salt and rinse aid. Despite its size, it seems like a full-fledged device with the necessary functions for effective dishwashing. We will conduct standard tests to evaluate how it copes with various contaminants and how easy it is to use.

Equipment

The Candy CP 6F51LW-08 dishwasher is packed in foam and cardboard wrapped in durable polyethylene. For additional protection, the packaging is reinforced with a wooden strip in the center of the front part. On the front side of the package there are stickers with information about the device.

After opening the package, we found the following items:

  • Dishwasher with basket and drain hose
  • Inlet hose
  • Cutlery basket
  • A pair of cup racks
  • Energy efficiency sticker
  • User manual and service book

The inlet hose included in the package is of a simple design and does not have leak protection.

At first glance

The body of the Candy CP 6F51LW-08 is covered with non-marking snow-white plastic. The touch control panel and the brand logo on the door are highlighted in black. The dishwasher looks neat and attractive.

The manufacturer's website states that the model is also available in a grey-silver colour.

The device is compact: 55 cm wide and 50 cm deep, allowing it to be placed on a wide kitchen countertop. The height of 44 cm will not create problems if there are upper cabinets above the installation site.

The front is mainly occupied by a folding door with a niche handle. The door opens smoothly, is securely held in any position and closes almost silently.

The side walls are simply smooth and white, without any functional details.

On the back wall of the machine there is a hole for connecting the supplied water supply hose and a non-removable drain hose. A little higher on the left is the power cord with a plug.

The walls and ceiling of the dishwasher chamber are made of stainless steel, and the tray is made of plastic.

The single basket rests on the protrusions of the chamber walls with six large plastic rollers.

Under the basket are: a sprinkler (there is only one in this model), a removable filter and a salt compartment. The sprinkler has a slightly curved shape and rotates due to the pressure of the water coming out of the holes directed at different angles.

The detergent container is located on the door and includes two compartments: on the left — for powder or tablets, which is closed with a hinged lid, and on the right — for rinse aid, which is closed with another lid. The consumption of detergent is regulated by buttons on the control panel.

Large plates are placed in the far right corner of the basket, glasses, cups and bowls in the far left corner. Saucers can be placed in the near left part of the basket, and small plates in the right. Between these zones there is a plastic basket for cutlery.

On the left, on one of the crossbars, you can attach removable shelves, of which there are two in the set. These shelves are designed to accommodate small cups or large knives and spatulas. They also have recesses for glass stems.

The holes in the cutlery basket seemed tiny to us, but the lids-stops fold back and you can place cutlery in a pile in the large openings.

Instructions

The dishwasher operating manual is a 32-page A4 brochure. The document is written in two languages: Russian and Kazakh.

The manual contains detailed information on the operation of the device, connection to the water supply, sewerage and power grid, as well as its control, safe operation and maintenance. At the end of the brochure there are technical specifications, possible malfunctions and methods for their elimination. The information is supplemented with diagrams, drawings and tables for ease of perception.

Control

The control panel of the Candy CP 6F51LW-08 dishwasher consists of six buttons and nine indicators.

When you press the first button on the left, the display and indicator of the selected program are turned on. To select a program, you must press the P button repeatedly; each time, the indicator of the corresponding program will light up, and the display will show the operating time of the selected mode. To start the cycle, press the Start/Pause button (far right). The cycle can be interrupted by pressing the same button again, and another press will resume operation. At the end of the program, a beep will sound (if it is not disabled). To turn off the dishwasher, press the far left button, otherwise after 30 seconds it will automatically go into standby mode.

There are five programs:

  • Quick (35 minutes): for light soiling with drying.
  • Universal (60°C, 129 minutes): for daily washing of normally soiled dishes.
  • Eco (45°C, 212 minutes): economical washing of normally soiled dishes.
  • Intensive (45°C, 146 minutes): for heavily soiled dishes and pans.
  • Glass (45°C, 96 minutes): for lightly soiled glasses and goblets.

On either side of the P button are the salt and rinse aid indicators, the latter also shows a partial load, if selected.

Pressing and holding the P button activates the panel lock, the lock is released in the same way.

The penultimate button on the right is responsible for the delayed start: you can select a start in 3, 6 or 9 hours.

In addition, using a combination of buttons, you can enter the user menu and adjust the degree of water softening, the sound signal, the supply of rinse aid or the function of remembering your favorite mode.

Operation

The dishwasher is connected as follows: the corrugated drain hose, already installed on the device, must be led to the sewer, and the inlet hose must be connected to the water supply system.

Before the first start, it is recommended to check the water hardness and, if necessary, fill the softener tank with salt, and also set the desired flow rate. Then you need to pour in the rinse aid. If you plan to use combined detergents, such as tablets or capsules, the rinse aid supply can be turned off.

After preparation, you can load the basket and select the appropriate program. The Candy CP 6F51LW-08 dishwasher offers a standard set of programs, but there is no night mode included. During testing, no special problems arose, with the exception of difficulties with removing burnt fatty sauce from a glass dish — in this case, the dishwasher did not cope completely. All other contaminants were removed without problems, the dishes after washing were clean and dry, with a minimum amount of moisture.

Care

Maintenance of the device includes regularly refilling the salt and rinse aid tanks. The filter needs to be cleaned periodically: it is easy to remove, disassemble and reassemble. The sprinkler also requires periodic cleaning — it is simply removed and washed under running water. To care for the inner surface, it is recommended to use a soft, damp, lint-free cloth. If necessary, you can use special cleaning and descaling agents.

Our measurements

The documentation contains data on energy consumption and water consumption. We measured the actual values and compared them with the manufacturer's data and found no significant discrepancies.

ProgramEnergy consumption, kW hWater consumption, lDuration, min.
declaredactualdeclaredactualdeclaredactual
P1 Fastnot specified0.3557.173535

The operating time of the programs in the Candy CP 6F51LW-08 model is fixed and does not depend on the degree of contamination of the dishes, which corresponds to the information in the instructions.

The noise level during operation of the device turned out to be quite moderate, on average we recorded 47-50 dBA, which is lower than the promised 51 dBA from the manufacturer.

The maximum power recorded during testing was 916 W, and in standby mode, the power consumption was 0.3 W.

Practice tests

Universal program and "artificial dirt"

For this test, we used our standard mud mixture: cheap industrial mayonnaise and ketchup. We generously applied this mixture to the dishes and left them to dry for 24 hours.

Now let's check what and what size fits in the basket. The maximum diameter of a large plate is 25 cm.

When everything dried, we noticed that the layer of dirt was even larger than expected. However, this added interest to the test.

We chose the Universal program and the result pleasantly surprised us: the dishes were washed to a shine, without visible or noticeable traces of dirt.

We were quite satisfied with the drying quality: a small number of drops were found only on cutlery (not on all) and on a couple of large plates.

Eco program and dried tomato sauce

To test the Eco program, we used several large jars: two two-liter and one three-liter. They were stained with ketchup (without mayonnaise) from the inside and left to dry for a day.

One two-liter container stood strictly vertically, the other two — at a slight angle.

At the end of the program, two jars were completely clean, and on the walls of the third we found minor remnants of soaked, but for some reason not washed off, ketchup.

One swipe of a paper napkin and this jar also started to shine. There was very little moisture inside the containers.Result: good

Wine Glasses and Glassware Washing Scenario

Next came the glasses with the remains of red wine and traces of greasy lipstick.

Jars stained with ketchup and left for 24 hours were washed in the Glass mode (P5). Please note that the basket can accommodate glasses up to 25.5 cm high. The shelves with holders hold the glasses well, but it was not possible to place all four in a row, so one glass had to be placed in the middle of the basket.

As you can see from the photos below, everything was washed perfectly. Water remained only in the glass, located horizontally, which is natural. The rest were completely dry, without any streaks.

Intensive

Our test showed that the best pan for the intensive cleaning program was the one used to cook the chicken with sour cream sauce. After eating, we placed the pan in the oven under high broil for 15 minutes to create a thick, heavily charred layer.

Although common sense would suggest soaking the mold for several hours, we decided to make the task more difficult. We placed the mold directly in the middle of the basket and started the intensive wash program (P4).

The form was generally cleaned well, but there were traces of grease on the edges.

No need for repeated washing — the softened residue was easily removed with a damp sponge.Result: good
