* Contrary to popular belief, this is not the time limit after which the device will necessarily break down. However, after this period, the manufacturer ceases to bear any responsibility for its performance and has the right to refuse to repair it, even for a fee.

Equipment

The hood is supplied in a large box made of brown technical cardboard, reinforced with nylon ties. Despite the fact that the packaging is only for safe transportation of the device, it looks quite decent and stylish.

On the front side of the box, the manufacturer placed a vector image of the hood and indicated its main characteristics: LED backlight, touch control and single-motor design.

Detailed technical specifications and contact information for the manufacturer and importer are indicated on the sides of the box. Having opened the package, we found inside:

  • hood housing with installed anti-grease filter
  • decorative telescopic casing
  • a set of brackets and hardware for hanging
  • non-return valve kit
  • corrugated aluminum sleeve
  • user guide
  • warranty card
  • paper template for installation of the product

At first sight

The front panel of the Lex Furia 600 hood consists of two tempered glass screens, painted black on the inside. This model comes in three color options: black (as in our photos), white and ivory. The metal part of the case is also painted in the same color as the screens.

The rectangular top screen folds down (and is secured with a latch when closed).

Under the panel there is a metal anti-grease filter.

The folding panel houses a touch control panel with a digital display showing the current power level. It is activated by clicking on the circle in the center of the screen.

When the hood is turned off, the sensors are not visible, only the power button is visible.

The anti-grease filter, which retains oil splashes from the stove, consists of an aluminum structure mounted on a metal frame. It is secured with gray plastic latches.

Having removed the filter, we gain access to the electric motor with a centrifugal fan. Air enters through the grilles at the ends of the cylinder, where mounts for additional carbon filters are also located.

It should be noted that the hood can operate either in an exhaust mode connected to ventilation, or in a recirculation mode, when it independently purifies the air. In the latter case, it is mandatory to use filters that trap unpleasant odors and dust. Lex L1 carbon cartridges are suitable for our model. They are not included with the hood, but can be purchased separately.

The work area is illuminated by two round LED lamps with bright, cool light. Their total power is 3 W.

The oblong holes on the back of the device are intended for hanging the hood using the bracket included in the kit.

If you choose a different mounting method during installation, you can use round holes.

The delivery set includes brackets, dowels and screws.

The 150 mm diameter outlet is equipped with slots for installing non-return valve petals, which are also included in the kit.

Petals are also included in the package; you do not have to purchase them additionally.

The purpose of these petals is to protect the hood when connected to the ventilation system, preventing dust and foreign odors from entering the device.

For connection to ventilation, the kit includes a corrugated sleeve made of aluminum foil.

To hide the corrugation or ventilation pipe, we will need a metal decorative telescopic casing with the manufacturer’s logo on it.

Thanks to this design, the height of the casing can be adjusted in accordance with the dimensions of the kitchen and the height of the ceilings.

Instructions

The 32-page instruction manual is an A5 brochure, printed on thick paper with good quality printing and many illustrations.

The document is designed for several Lex hood models and contains general installation recommendations for various installation options: free-standing or built-in, using recirculation mode or connected to a ventilation duct.

The manual also includes technical characteristics of the devices, a table of possible malfunctions with methods for eliminating them, and recommendations for care.

The documentation set includes a warranty card and a paper template that simplifies marking when installing the device.

Control

On the control panel of the hood there is a main touch button, indicated by a gray circle, which turns the device on and off. To the right and left of it there are four more touch buttons, invisible when turned off.

All buttons are equipped with blue LED backlighting, giving them an aesthetic appearance. Pressing is accompanied by medium-volume sound signals (squeaking).

During operation, all buttons are illuminated. Their purpose is easily understood thanks to the icons:

  • timer button (to set the hood to turn off after 1-9 minutes)
  • power reduction button (timer time setting)
  • power button (also a digital indicator)
  • power increase button (timer time setting)
  • backlight on/off button

The only action that is not entirely obvious is setting a timer to automatically turn off the device after 1-9 minutes. To do this, keep the timer button pressed for three seconds. Then use the arrows to set the response time, and the selection is confirmed by pressing the button again. It's not difficult to get used to, but it may take a few tries.

Exploitation

We do not test hoods in real kitchen conditions as each installation may be unique. Our measurements are limited to laboratory tests, including performance, noise and power consumption measurements.

During testing, we found that the sensors on the hood are well located and respond reliably to pressure. Working with them is intuitive.

The backlight lamps used in the design have good brightness. Their white, cool light allows the hood to serve as the main source of lighting in the kitchen when necessary.

Among the disadvantages, it is worth noting the rapid formation of pollution. Even ordinary dust particles are clearly visible on the glass surface of the hood in side lighting, and fingerprints can remain even when working with clean hands. If your hands get a little dirty while cooking, you may need to wipe down the hood after finishing the process.

Care

It is recommended to clean the outer surfaces of the hood at least once a month using mild cleaning agents. For glass surfaces, it is recommended to use a soft cloth with glass cleaning liquid. The use of scrapers and abrasives is not permitted.

The aluminum filter must be cleaned regularly, at least once a month, by soaking it in hot water and detergent for an hour.

The filter is also dishwasher safe. However, the manufacturer warns about a possible color change, which does not affect the performance of the filter.

Our measurements

The energy consumption of the hood depends on the speed of the fans.

When the hood is off, it consumes 0.1 W, when the control panel is on — 0.5 W, and when the light (and control panel) is on — 3.9 W.

Energy consumption, W
Speed 1158
Speed 2183
Speed 3212
Lighting3.9

To measure the noise level, we use a sound level meter microphone, placed at a distance of 1 m from the operating device and aimed at it. For maximum accuracy in reproducing real-life operating conditions, we connect a 2-meter pipe to the outlet of the hood so that the “rear” noise is carried far enough away and does not affect the measurement results.

Noise level, dBA
Speed 156
Speed 262
Speed 366

As usual, to measure performance we connect the device to a two-meter smooth PVC pipe with a diameter of 160 mm. This allows you to stabilize the difference in air flow rates at the outlet. At the outer opening of the pipe, we measure the air flow velocity at 17 points, and then average the obtained values using the arithmetic mean method.

Based on the average air flow speed at the outlet of the pipe (9.65 m/s), the hood performance is calculated in cubic meters of air per minute. For this model, the measurement results are shown below:

The productivity, determined according to the iXBT.com method, is 11.64 cubic meters per minute (or 698.35 m³/h), taking into account the pipe diameter (160 mm).

conclusions

The inclined kitchen hood Lex Furia 600 Black left an extremely positive impression on us. First of all, this is due to its high power, superior to many other models. At the same time, the noise level remains at a low level, which is an advantageous difference from other kitchen hoods.

The design of the hood is stylish and modern, making it suitable for both modern and classic kitchens. Three different colors are also available, allowing everyone to choose the most suitable option.

The controls turned out to be standard, but quite clear and intuitive.

The illumination of the work area provides sufficient brightness for comfortable work at the stove, although, of course, it will not replace specialized kitchen lighting.

Among the minor drawbacks, it is worth noting that the glass surface is prone to leaving fingerprints and grease stains. Therefore, cleanliness lovers and perfectionists will probably be forced to wipe down their hood regularly.

Pros:

  • convenient control
  • high performance
  • acceptable noise level
  • easy care

Minuses:

  • easily soiled glass surface
