Jimmy HW11 Pro Max washing vacuum cleaner review

08.07.2024 11:00

Basic principles of cleaning include regular sweeping, mandatory dusting of all horizontal surfaces and periodic mopping of the floor. After completing these tasks, there are still a few small tasks left to do, such as cleaning the bathroom fixtures, stove, and kitchen countertops. However, by this point there is usually little strength left, so finding a convenient tool that will simplify the process becomes especially important.

We can count on help from the Jimmy HW11 Pro Max washing vacuum cleaner, which is capable of performing all three main cleaning stages. It carries out wet sweeping, as our grandmothers advised, and automatically washes the brush after work. It's time to check how well he copes with his obligations.

Equipment

The Jimmy HW11 Pro Max vacuum cleaner comes in a large cardboard box with a convenient plastic carrying handle. On the front side of the package there is a colorful photograph of the device in the interior, and its main advantages are also listed. Among them are the ability to detach a hand-held vacuum cleaner for cleaning furniture, cleaning while simultaneously sucking up debris and washing surfaces, quick drying after wet cleaning and a self-cleaning rotor function.

Having opened the box, we found in it:

  • motor unit of a vacuum cleaner with an installed container for dry waste
  • removable battery
  • floor nozzle with clean water tank
  • washing unit with reservoir for dirty liquid
  • extension tube
  • motorized furniture brush
  • two attachments for manual cleaning
  • base for charging and cleaning — disassembled
  • two stands for accessories installed on the base
  • bottle of branded floor cleaner
  • a brush for cleaning the “dirty” tank
  • power cable
  • user guide

The motor block of the Jimmy HW11 Pro Max vacuum cleaner is made of dark gray and silver plastic, with a decorative insert in a red gold style. Externally, the device is very similar to the previous model from this manufacturer, which we reviewed recently. However, upon careful inspection, some differences are noticeable: the new model has a more capacious battery, the design of the nozzle has been slightly changed, and the button that secures the battery is located in a new way.

As in the previous model, the HW11 Pro Max is built according to a longitudinal design: the air path, cyclone filter and engine are located on the same axis. The blown air leaves the housing through the grilles on the right and left, which prevents the scattering of uncollected dust from the working area and does not bother the owner.

At the top of the case there is a D-shaped handle with two control buttons. The third button adjusts the latch that holds the trash bin in place. Nearby, closer to the front end, there is a fourth button that opens the dust container: you can shake it out without removing it from the case and without getting your hands dirty.

On the bottom side of the case there is a 12-pin connector through which the device is connected to the extension tube. This connector provides control of the electric floor brush, power supply and battery charging.

Another connector, this time a four-pin one, is located at the end: with its help, the electric furniture brush receives power.

The air flow with dust and dry debris is directed into the cyclone filter, where it swirls around the central element. Heavy particles thrown by the plastic “skirt” settle at the bottom of the container, while smaller debris is retained by a finely perforated steel grid.

Dust that passes through the grille remains on the HEPA filter, which is protected by a black foam disk.

The removable cylindrical battery consists of six standard 18650 batteries with a capacity of 4800 mAh. The manufacturer notes the possibility of repackaging the battery if necessary by replacing failed elements, which allows you to extend the life of the device without the need to completely replace the unit.

At the end of the handle of the motor unit there is an LED display made of black plastic. The indication on the switched off device is not visible and will be examined closer after the device is turned on.

The wet cleaning unit is divided into two parts. At the front there is a container for dirty water and wet waste with a filtration system. This drive is connected to a housing into which an extension tube is inserted from above, and a nozzle with an electric brush is inserted from below.

The tank for dirty fluid has a perforated separator that traps large pieces of debris. At the bottom of the transparent container, water with fine dust accumulates, which can be easily poured into the drain without fear of clogging.

There are two contacts on the tank cover for the overflow sensor to operate. There is also a splash-proof filter made of black foam, which retains drops of water, preventing them from entering the “dry zone”.

The Jimmy HW11 clean water reservoir is not located on the body, like most similar models, but directly on the motorized brush.

The tank must be filled through the neck, closed with a hinged cap.

Through the tank made of transparent gray plastic, you can see a spring-loaded valve at the bottom: through it, water flows to the nozzle at the front end of the brush.

At the front of the nozzle there is a nozzle that sprays water in manual mode. The nozzle also has a built-in system for automatically moistening the rotor brushes.

Our device has two rotors rotating in opposite directions. This design provides greater cleaning efficiency compared to single-brush models.

The D-shaped handle of the extension tube contains buttons that duplicate the controls.

The washing block is easily assembled from three parts. Its design is intuitive.

A base station made of black plastic is provided for maintenance and charging. In the front part of its flat tray there is a recess where both rotors of the floor nozzle are washed during self-cleaning. A fan is installed inside the case to dry the brushes. Warm air is supplied to them for several hours after washing, which eliminates the appearance of unpleasant odors and prevents the proliferation of harmful microflora on the velor elements.

Removable stands for accessories are attached to the right and left of the base station. One of them is designed to accommodate rotors and a brush for cleaning the nozzle; the second can accommodate a bottle of detergent.

The vacuum cleaner kit includes a rubber brush designed for cleaning the dirty water tank. Its diameter corresponds to the size of the inner shaft of the container. Also in the box with the vacuum cleaner is a 0.48 liter bottle of branded floor cleaning product.

For manual cleaning, the Jimmy HW11 Pro Max comes with three attachments: an electric brush for upholstered furniture and two simple, traditional designs.

The crevice nozzle is ideal for cleaning hard-to-reach areas, while the wide brush with soft bristles is suitable for cleaning clothes.

The motor brush has a familiar and understandable design for users. The built-in motor rotates a rotor with two rows of bristle elements, which are located at a slight angle to the axis of rotation. Between them there are two silicone lamellas. The hinge of the nozzle allows you to tilt it in one plane — within approximately 40°.

For cleaning and maintenance, the rotor can be removed by turning the round plug on the right end of the nozzle.

Instructions

The user manual is a thick (116 pages) brochure compiled in seven European languages, including Russian. It is printed on thick white paper and the printing quality is excellent.

The Russian-language part of the manual is 17 pages with numerous illustrations. It describes in detail the design, assembly and preparation for operation of the Jimmy HW11 Pro Max vacuum cleaner, and also provides instructions for operating and operating the device. The document includes tips on caring for the vacuum cleaner and contains a list of possible malfunctions with recommendations for eliminating them yourself.

The brochure also contains a schematic diagram of the device — this is a rarity for modern household appliances.

Control

The vacuum cleaner is controlled by two buttons on the handle of the motor unit. The first turns the device on and off, the second serves to change the power.

When operating in manual mode, the Jimmy HW10 Pro has two levels: standard (“Floor”) and maximum (“Carpet”).

On the extension handle, two buttons repeat the functions of similar elements of the motor unit. The third button controls the water supply during wet cleaning. At the end there is another button to start self-cleaning of the device at the base station.

In floor cleaning mode, a third level has been added to the two standard levels — automatic, activated by default. In «Auto» mode, the device automatically adjusts power depending on the readings of the built-in dust sensor.

The round button above the display controls the voice assistant settings. A short press switches the alert language, and a long press turns the sound on or off.

The LED display shows the estimated operating time in minutes while the device is operating, instead of the usual battery charge indicator. The name of the current operating mode is displayed above the numbers: “Floor”, “Auto” or “Carpet”.

When manually selecting the power level, the color bar on the display glows white, and in automatic mode it switches to blue or red depending on the level of contamination.

Around the digital display there are indicators of various modes and conditions: drying, air duct clogging, filling level of clean and dirty water tanks, automatic water spraying and self-cleaning mode.

The inscriptions on the display are arranged in such a way that it is convenient to read the icons in the working position during cleaning. However, the self-cleaning mode symbol and label are reversed: they are intended for use on a base station with the device's display facing away from the user.

This is a small but thoughtful solution that is usually ignored by manufacturers of such devices, but Jimmy's designers took this aspect into account.

Exploitation

Before using the vacuum cleaner, you must remove it from the packaging and assemble it. The assembly process is very simple and intuitive. The instructions describe each stage in detail, with special attention paid to actions with latches.

To install the base station, you need to connect the vertical and horizontal parts. You should also attach accessory holders to the sides. The included power adapter plugs into the back of the base. When choosing a location for a station, it is important to consider access to an outlet.

It is recommended to fully charge the device before using it. This process typically takes about five hours, but the first charge may take longer, which is typical for battery-powered devices. Simply plug in the device overnight and it will be ready to use the next morning.

In manual mode, the vacuum cleaner did not give us any surprises: it fits comfortably in the hand, is easy to operate and effectively removes dust from clothes and furniture.

The included motor brush allows you to easily clean soft surfaces. It easily removes dust and pet hair.

But the main function of the Jimmy HW11 is, of course, sweeping and washing floor coverings.

This vacuum cleaner model is suitable for both dry and wet cleaning. Its weight is slightly greater than that of traditional vertical devices without a washing function, but this does not cause discomfort during use due to its good balance and soft wheels at the base of the floor nozzle.

The floor nozzle is equipped with a parking position, which allows you to temporarily pause cleaning by placing the device vertically, without attaching it to walls or furniture. In this mode, the vacuum cleaner increases power to maximum for a few seconds to clean the air tract, and then automatically turns off. When you return to work, it returns to normal mode.

It is not recommended to start cleaning with an empty water filter or dry. Debris may pass through the main reservoir and accumulate under the lid. Even if you plan to only dry clean, it is advisable to leave some water in the reservoir. To fill the tank, you can use the detergent recommended by the manufacturer, diluting it in a ratio of 1 to 50.

This model has a convenient automatic mode: the vacuum cleaner itself selects the power level depending on the degree of surface contamination. This helps to use battery power more efficiently.

During wet cleaning, water is supplied both automatically and manually. In automatic mode, which is turned on by default, liquid flows onto the rotating brushes, evenly moistening them. Brush wetting can be turned off by pressing the self-cleaning button, after which the vacuum cleaner will switch to dry cleaning mode.

If necessary, you can use manual water spraying: in this case, water is fanned out through the nozzle on the front side of the nozzle, moistening the work area in front of the device. Manual water supply can be combined with automatic one. This scheme is perhaps more convenient than the traditional one: the user better sees areas that require more intensive moisturizing and has better control over the process.

The capacity of the tank for dirty liquid is slightly smaller than that of the tank for clean water: the signal about the overflow of the first tank usually sounds earlier than the message about the emptying of the second.

During wet cleaning, a significant part of the debris remains inside the separator basket. Solid contaminants can be shaken out into a trash can, and any accumulated liquid at the bottom can be poured down the drain.

A significant amount of contaminants is retained in the washable filter — when cleaning the tank, it is important not to forget about this element. Wet debris can be easily shaken out of the reservoir into a trash can without clogging the drain.

After completing wet cleaning, you should install the device on the base, empty the dirty water from the tank, fill the lower tank with clean water and press the button on the handle to start the self-cleaning mode. For several minutes, the vacuum cleaner rinses the brush, periodically increasing the power to maximum to clean the air tract, and then reminds you to pour out the dirty water again and add clean water.

Having completed self-cleaning, the vacuum cleaner turns on the base station fan, which dries the brush for several hours. Automatic drying prevents the development of bacteria on the rotor surface, which can cause an unpleasant odor.

The built-in voice guidance in the vacuum cleaner comments on each action in a pleasant female voice in Russian (English, French, Italian and German voice packs are also available). The device informs about changes in operating mode, detected malfunctions, reminds you of the need to empty the tank for dirty liquid, fill the tank for clean water and turn on the self-cleaning mode in time.

Care

The dirty water tank should be cleaned after each cleaning — the vacuum cleaner reminds you of this.

The dry waste bin should be emptied when it is full. Thanks to the hinged lid, you can do this without the risk of getting your hands dirty.

The roller brush should be regularly inspected for threads, hair and pet fur wrapped around the rotor — and if necessary, removed.

The manufacturer reminds you that during long breaks in use, you must empty the clean water tank and both waste containers, and also thoroughly clean the device.

Our measurements

We provide the mass measurements of the main components of the vacuum cleaner in the table:

Weight, g
Engine block805
Battery560
Floor cleaning attachment with electric brush and extension tube3380
Brush attachment45
Crevice nozzle40

The clean water tank holds 635 milliliters. A fully equipped vacuum cleaner in the wet cleaning configuration weighs 5380 g. In the minimum manual cleaning configuration, the device weighs 1405 g.

We determined the suction power when operating the vacuum cleaner without a pipe and nozzles, in two modes. The dependence of suction power on the created vacuum is shown in the graph below:

We measured the following values: in maximum mode, the vacuum cleaner consumes 92.9 W, and in minimum mode — 19.4 W. When the stand valve is completely closed, overheating protection is triggered and the device turns off, which is displayed on both graphs.

The noise level in manual mode ranges from 75 to 84 dBA for minimum and maximum power, respectively. In floor cleaning mode, sound pressure ranges from 76 to 82 dBA, which remains essentially the same for all usage configurations.

Battery life depends on accessories and selected mode. In manual configuration, our vacuum cleaner has two power levels. At minimum power it works for more than an hour and a half — 91 minutes.

When the device's charge is at a critical level at maximum load, it gradually reduces speed, allowing you to complete cleaning comfortably. We noticed that after 29 minutes of intensive use, the vacuum cleaner continues to operate at reduced power for another 14 minutes, for a total of 43 minutes of autonomy.

In wet cleaning mode at the “Floor” level, autonomy was 41 minutes, and at the “Carpet” level — 29 minutes (and 4 minutes at reduced power).

A completely discharged vacuum cleaner takes an average of 5 hours and 40 minutes to charge. The charger consumes up to 27.5 W, and a full charging cycle requires approximately 0.130 kWh.

Here is a table with our measurements:

Duration of operation at maximum power29 minutes
Duration of operation in manual mode91 minutes
Noise levelup to 84 dBA
Weight in wet floor cleaning configuration5380 g
Weight in manual configuration1405 g

conclusions

Jimmy HW11 Pro Max combines the functions of one hand-held vacuum cleaner with two vertical ones — for dry and wet floor cleaning. This universal device is easily transformed and provides long-lasting and efficient operation in any of its configurations.

After practical and laboratory tests, it became clear that the Jimmy HW11 Pro Max model is a successful combination of a powerful motor and a capacious battery, providing high suction power and long operating time. Intelligently configured automatic mode frees the user from having to manually switch engine operating modes depending on the level of surface contamination.

The water supply system is especially well thought out: the device automatically regulates the humidity of both brushes, and manual spraying of water through the front nozzle effectively helps when cleaning heavily soiled surfaces.

As a handheld vacuum cleaner, the Jimmy HW11 Pro Max also delivers on convenience and efficiency. The package includes enough accessories for most home cleaning tasks, and additional attachments are available on the manufacturer's website to expand functionality.

Among the disadvantages of the device, it is worth noting the rather high noise level and significant weight when used in a configuration for wet cleaning.
