When it comes to hair dryers, home appliance brands often offer standard features such as multiple modes, ionic control, and concentrator and diffuser attachments. However, Garlyn decided to surprise its consumers. The Garlyn Air Lux hair dryer we're talking about today, in addition to the usual features such as an LCD display, four heat levels and three airflow speeds, also comes with a unique NutriAmino nozzle.
According to the manufacturer, the branded hair dryer attachment contains amino acids, which get on the hair during the use of the hair dryer. This, according to the manufacturer, makes the hair especially moisturized and protected from harmful environmental influences. Similar magic? We begin testing with great interest.

Equipment
Garlyn Air Lux branded gift packaging is made of durable cardboard with high-quality full-color printing.
When opening the box, we felt a pleasant light aroma of perfume and did not even immediately understand where it was coming from. As it turned out later during the testing process, this delicious smell came from the nozzle with amino acids.
Inside the package, the hair dryer and attachments are securely fixed in special cutouts in the plastic backing. The hairdryer comes with a concentrator, a diffuser and a nozzle with amino acids, as well as brief instructions on a separate sheet, the full version of which is presented in the form of a booklet, as well as a warranty card.
At first sight
The Garlyn Air Lux case is a stylish and neat product. The build quality of the device and the finishing of all its elements pleased us. A visual inspection did not reveal any cracks or defects.
The Garlyn Air Lux hair dryer has a strict and laconic design in the shape of a cylinder. The graphite-colored plastic coating is not subject to marking; Fingerprints are easily erased without any extra effort.
The hair dryer body is about 11 cm long (without attachments) and weighs only about 500 grams. The diameter of the air outlet hole is approximately 4.2 cm. Most of the hole is covered with a plastic panel with a recess through which the air exits through slots around the circumference.
The hole circumference is equipped with a magnetic ring to which the attachments are attached. Thanks to this device, installation and removal of attachments is easy and without unnecessary effort. The attachments hold securely and do not fall off on their own, and also rotate freely 360 degrees.
The Garlyn Air Lux comes with three attachments made from the same durable plastic as the main body.
The diffuser nozzle has the classic shape of a wide hemisphere with a perforated bottom with special teeth, which also have holes for air outlet.
The design of the hub can be called standard. The hole length is 6 cm, width is 0.7 cm.
The NutriAmino nozzle is an intricately shaped plastic ring, inside of which we see an orange silicone insert — this is the same block with amino acids.
The controls are located on the inside of the handle and on the back of the case under the display. The sliding switch and buttons are moderately tight and do not respond to accidental touches.
The entire back side is covered with mirror plastic in a dark gray shade. There is a round display in the center, and above it there is a built-in LED air temperature indicator located around the circumference.
The length of the body handle is 17 cm, and the diameter is 3.5 cm. At the bottom there is an air intake, which is covered with a fine-mesh metal filter. The upper part of the air intake is covered with a plastic cap with ventilation holes.
The element is held on the handle thanks to magnets. It can be easily removed, but does not fall on its own — if you accidentally touch it, it will not fall to the floor, but will remain hanging on the cord. The plastic of the filter is strong and does not feel like it could crack easily.
The three-meter long cord is protected from kinks by a rubber casing at the point of attachment to the handle. For compact storage of the cord when folded, a silicone strap is provided.
Instructions
The instructions for Garlyn Air Lux are presented in the form of a small A6 booklet, printed on thick, high-quality glossy paper.
The brochure consistently introduces the user to the device of the hair dryer, its rules of operation, management and care. The text is small and easy to read. However, operating the hairdryer is clear even without instructions, and the operating rules are so simple that, most likely, you will only have to read the document once.
The brief instructions are formatted as an A5 memo containing the most important information from the main document. The warranty card is presented as a separate brochure.
Control
The hair dryer is turned on using a sliding switch on the inside of the handle, which has two positions.
The button below allows you to select one of three operating modes (switching in a circle):
- Cold air
- Hot air
- Alternating hot and cold air one second at a time
The buttons on the back of the case under the display are responsible for:
- Power selection (low, medium and high)
- Temperature selection (cold air, low, medium and high)
Information about the current temperature and blowing power is displayed on the display. The device remembers the last settings and the next time it is turned on, it starts working with the same parameters.
Exploitation
First, we unwound the cord and connected the device to the network. The cord turned out to be quite long, flexible and had durable rubber insulation. Throughout the entire period of operation, no specific technical odors were noticed from the hair dryer. Instead, you could only smell the pleasant aroma of perfume emanating from the amino acid attachment, even when it was sitting next to the hair dryer, idle.
Although we were unable to confirm the presence of amino acids in the proprietary attachment, we removed the orange insert (it was removable) and examined it closely.
First, we started connecting the device to the network by unwinding a long and flexible cord with durable rubber insulation. During the entire period of operation of the hair dryer, no specific technical odors were detected, but only a pleasant aroma of perfume emanating from the nozzle with amino acids, even when it was next to the hair dryer without use.
Although we were unable to confirm the presence of amino acids in the proprietary attachment, we removed the orange insert (it was removable) and examined it closely.
We dried the same hair several times with and without the nozzle. The difference was noticeable — the hair became somewhat softer, even without the use of additional moisturizing products. This result surprised us because we usually needed to use moisturizers to achieve this effect.
The concentrator attachment did its job well as expected, helping to pull out hair strands. The diffuser attachment also proves useful, especially for wavy hair, giving it extra volume and highlighting natural waves. However, the depth of the diffuser bowl turned out to be too shallow for thick and long hair, which could cause some inconvenience.
Drying thick hair just below shoulder length at maximum temperature and blowing speed took exactly 5 minutes. Switching between the hair dryer's operating modes was quick and easy. The hair dryer body is compact and lightweight, the control buttons are conveniently located, and the controls are intuitive.
Care
The body of the hair dryer can be cleaned by wiping it with a soft cloth after the device is unplugged and cooled down. However, you should avoid immersing the hair dryer in water or spraying it with a stream of water. It is also not recommended to use abrasive or chemically aggressive cleaning products.
Sometimes the device filter needs to be cleaned. To do this, remove the cap from the handle, lowering it down, and use a dry brush to remove dirt from the metal surface of the filter. You can also use the automatic cleaning function by holding the operating mode selection button on the handle for a few seconds and switching the top button to the on mode. The hair dryer will begin to circulate air in the opposite direction, which will help clean the filter mesh. Automatic cleaning will last for 10 seconds.
Our measurements
To measure and calculate the performance of the Garlyn Air Lux hair dryer, a wattmeter, a thermometer and a vane anemometer were used, which measured the speed of the air flow passing through the hair dryer.

The measurements and calculations carried out showed the following:
- In the minimum blowing power mode, the hair dryer passes 14 liters of air per second.
- In medium power mode, this figure is 18 liters per second.
- In maximum power mode, the hair dryer passes 20 liters of air per second.
- Energy consumption for 5 minutes of operation varies: at the minimum power of the cold air flow it is 0.004 kilowatt-hours, and at the maximum power with maximum temperature it is 0.142 kilowatt-hours.
- The maximum noise level measured at a distance of 1 meter was 72 decibels.
- The overheat protection test showed that the hair dryer continued to operate at maximum power with maximum temperature for more than 30 seconds without turning off. The handle got hot, but there was no burning smell, and after the experiment the hair dryer continued working without problems.
conclusions
From our first look at the device to our close examination of the drying and styling results, the Garlyn Air Lux hair dryer met our expectations on every level. It fits comfortably in the hand, all buttons are located so that it is convenient to use the thumb and forefinger. It is not too heavy and is the perfect size for a small woman's hand. Despite the lack of a folding handle, it is compact and will not take up much space when stored or in a travel bag. Three speeds and four heating temperature levels allow you to quickly and gently dry hair of different textures, and the ionization function completely eliminates static electricity, while maintaining the natural level of moisture.
Using a proprietary attachment with NutriAmino amino acids, hair becomes noticeably softer and silkier after drying. The nozzle also pleasantly scents the hair and the surrounding area with its unobtrusive aroma, which remains noticeable for some time. The engine noise is pleasantly soft, even at maximum speed it is moderate and does not cause discomfort.
