Review of electric toothbrush Evolution TB-01

Choosing an electric toothbrush can be difficult given the variety of options. Let's take a break from this and just evaluate how comfortable it is to use the Evolution TB-01. After all, a toothbrush is just a tool, and none of them can replace visits to the dentist.

The brush arrived for testing in a neat and elongated white box. The packaging of Evolution TB-01 is compact and elegant: on the top of the case there is a silhouette of a brush, on the sides the brand name is written in silver font, and on the back there is a brief description of the product. It shows the device's functions, equipment, main characteristics, legal information, barcode and date of manufacture.

Inside the box, in the upper part, there is a plastic separator form in which there is a brush with a head protected by a cap. Below it, in individual tight bags, are a travel case, a docking station for charging the device and a spare head.

In total the kit includes:

All this looks very nice and worthy both for independent purchase and for a good gift for friends or relatives.

The body of the toothbrush has a recognizable oblong cylindrical shape and is made of a specific rough anti-slip material. The entire power block is comparable in size to an average wax candle, officially black, but visually more of a dark gray. The design is laconic and neat, the brush fits comfortably in the hand, is easy to control and almost weightless. The brand logo is printed on the bottom of the case, and a brief description can also be found below.

The only thing that stands out on the case is the textured control button, which resembles a large plus. When you press it briefly, the device turns on, and pressing it again switches modes, the symbols of which are highlighted by indicators.

The head of the toothbrush is securely mounted on an axis with a flat section. The black attachment fits easily onto the mount, but will require considerable force to remove. We asked a five-year-old child and an elderly woman to disassemble the brush; the child could not do this.

Evolution TB-01 is waterproof according to the IPX7 standard, allowing short-term immersion in water to a depth of 1 m, as well as cleaning under running water.

The brush base can be easily unscrewed to provide access to the inductive charging coil. To charge, the cap is removed and the brush is installed on a compact docking station platform with a USB port. For greater stability, the brush is equipped with a special rounded transparent stand into which it is inserted, like into a low pencil holder.

Before first use, the manufacturer recommends charging the device for 10 hours. However, we were unable to determine the exact time required for a full charge, since during the tests the brush simply did not have time to discharge. The docking station is equipped with a non-removable USB cord 1 meter long, which can be connected to any charger, including a car charger or laptop.

The bristles of the nozzle are soft and pleasant to the touch, black in color, in harmony with the rest of the nozzle. The back side of the nozzle has a rough surface. The kit includes two replaceable universal nozzles, each of which is equipped with a protective cap made of white plastic.

The black case of the device is made of light and pleasant-to-touch plastic, which looks like a convenient pencil case. Inside there is space for a power unit and two replaceable attachments. The case closes with a movable external latch, and there is a small built-in ring on the side through which you can thread a cord and wear the case around your neck. This is convenient on long business trips, when washrooms are located in common corridors or near bodies of water, and not in individual rooms.

The instructions are a booklet made of one sheet of thick matte glossy A4 paper, folded three times the width of the package. The booklet is made in white and turquoise colors and contains all the necessary information for the user: scope of application of the device, limitations, technical characteristics, description of charging with a diagram, recommendations, rules for opening and storing the case, safety measures, description of cleaning modes and methods, as well as service addresses centers, warranty conditions and a note about the warranty itself. The instructions can be stored directly in the box or together with other documents.

The device has three main modes:

1. Morning regimen: 2 minutes brushing and 1 minute whitening.
2. Night mode: 2 minutes of brushing, 1 minute of gum massage and 30 seconds of whitening.
3. New User Mode: Cleaning power gradually increases over 7 days for comfortable acclimatization.

Each mode has three power levels: weak, medium and strong. The brush allows you to clean your teeth, whiten them and care for your gums.

Control is carried out through one button on the body, made in the form of a large plus. To switch modes, briefly press the button three seconds after turning on. To change the pressure, hold the plus button longer; The brighter the indicator is, the stronger the vibration.

Indicators on the body show the current mode, power level, battery charge and the need to replace the nozzle (it is recommended to change every three months). There is also an automatic switching indicator between morning and night modes, which can be activated by briefly pressing the plus button until the corresponding indicator appears or holding the plus button for 2 seconds in the off state.

The indicators are located on the body from top to bottom in the following order:

1. Power
2. Morning routine
3. Automatic mode switching
4. Night mode
5.  New user mode
6. Charge level
7. Nozzle replacement indicator

To return the device to factory settings, hold the plus button for at least 5 seconds until the device turns off. To turn off, simply briefly press the plus button.

We unpacked the device, charged it for ten hours and carefully studied the instructions. After consulting with the treating dentist, we started using the brush. The manufacturer recommended starting with the “new user” mode, and after two weeks the brush suggested switching to daytime and evening modes, when the process of use became familiar.

Before starting use, we slightly moistened the brush head and applied toothpaste to it along the entire length of the bristles. When turned on, the brush initially vibrates weakly, which allows you to calmly place it in your mouth without shaking the toothpaste. Evolution TB-01 can be turned on before the brush is in your mouth, which helps avoid unnecessary splashes.

Each brush mode has a recommended brushing time, averaging 2 minutes. The timer reminds you to change the cleaning zone every 30 seconds. Ideally, the brushing area is divided into four parts, starting from the outside of the front teeth and ending with the inside of the lower jaw.

The manufacturer recommends holding the head of the attachment at an angle of 45 degrees to the tooth, at the junction of the gum and tooth. However, in practice this may vary depending on individual habits, doctor's recommendations and oral health.

The head is no different in shape and quality from a regular toothbrush, but thanks to the almost weightless body, the comparison becomes more relevant. The difference is felt in the hand — the nozzle vibrates and makes a sound, which signals the need to change position, charge or change mode.

We were unable to determine the exact duration of a full charge, since the brush did not run out of charge during the 20 days of testing. The manufacturer claims that the charge should last for 30 days. We were also unable to pinpoint the exact charging time as this may depend on the USB port used.

The brush should be rinsed after each use, just like any other toothbrush. It is recommended to do this under running water, carefully removing any remaining food and pasta. The bristles of this model are delicate and easily wrinkle when wet, so it is better to give it time to dry before covering it with a protective cap. The manufacturer does not recommend using the attachment if the bristles are wrinkled or bent.

It is important to remember that the device and its attachments are intended for use by one person only.

It’s a good idea to completely rinse your brush at least once a week—it’s safe. The base of the brush is quite stable and looks good on the sink, but any careless movement can cause it to fall. Although this is not critical, it is better to store the brush in a case to avoid accidental drops on the floor or in a common sink.

The manufacturer also reminds:

• If the toothpaste contains peroxide, baking soda or other carbonates, the bristles must be thoroughly washed.
• Monitor the charge indicator and recharge the device as needed.
• Avoid the formation of deposits between the nozzle and the body.

The charging dock should not be wet; it should be wiped with a dry cloth. Also, wipe the case regularly and replace the cleaning heads every three months.

We have already mentioned that it was difficult to measure the battery life of the device, since the process turned out to be very lengthy. We used the brush extensively for twenty days, testing various functions, which is not typical use, but did not receive an indication of a decrease in charge. The brand claims that the charge should last up to 30 days with twice daily use, and that seems plausible.

The noise level during operation of the device ranged from 37 to 42 dBA, depending on the selected mode. Let us remind you that the sound inside the oral cavity can be felt more intensely.

The Evolution TB-01 electric toothbrush turned out to be a pleasant, stylish and affordable device with simple controls and a convenient storage case. Elegant, light and unpretentious, it takes into account the needs of beginners in using such accessories, offering different levels of cleaning intensity and following the recommendations of dentists.
