Here is an electric grater — stylish, simple and light. A few decades ago it would have seemed like a cosmic miracle, but now, spoiled by the variety of kitchen appliances, we ask ourselves: why do we need a multi-cutter in the kitchen? Let's check.

Equipment

The multi-cutter came for testing in the brand's original packaging. On the long sides of the box on a gray background are the brand name, the full name of the model and its image, accompanied by the slogan “A professional in your kitchen.” The photographs differ in small details: on one side there is a plate of carrots in front of the grater.

On the right side panel there is an image of the nozzle, divided into four parts, and samples of the operation of the multi-cutter. The brand name, model name are also indicated here, and the advantages of the device are listed: maximum power, 4 replaceable attachments, 3 graters and a shredder. The left side of the box lists the main technical specifications in three languages (Russian, Kazakh, English), legal information and a barcode.

The box cover contains the brand name and a QR code leading to the model page on the website. Inside there are foam inserts, each part is packed in a separate plastic bag. The box is compact and easy to transport, although it does not have separate handles.

The device package includes:

  • Motor block
  • Multi-cutting unit
  • Fine grater
  • Coarse grater
  • Grater-chopper
  • Shredder
  • Pusher
  • Service book
  • Manual

At first sight

Externally, the multi-cutter resembles a compact meat grinder: a small body made of plastic and steel with a comfortable handle and a large button on the flat wide top, a transparent plastic cutting block. The set includes 4 attachments (3 graters and a shredder) and a transparent plastic pusher.

The base features four rubberized feet, a barcode sticker, and a standard legal sticker. The model is very stable and takes up little space on a flat and hard surface. The manufacturer strongly recommends not using the device outdoors or suspended, which is difficult to imagine.

Redmond FP606 is easy to carry by the handle, and it is assembled intuitively and simply. The assembly process is shown in the diagram in the instructions and is very similar to assembling a standard meat grinder. The transparent multi-cutting unit must be screwed into the drive shaft coupling (the round hole on the housing), inserting the grooves into the grooves and turning counterclockwise. Complete assembly requires one smooth movement.

Using a similar scheme, insert the nozzle into the multi-cutting unit and turn it clockwise. Products are loaded into the neck and pushed by a pusher, and the mechanism is activated by just one button. All these actions do not require effort or special preparation.

The attachments are similar to cylindrical graters and differ only in function; they can be folded into one another for storage. There is no special device for storing them, and it is difficult to imagine how necessary it would be. We put the attachments in a regular kitchen drawer.

The device cord is located on the back of the multi-cutter and is protected by a plastic plug; its length is suitable for a small kitchen.

The main impression from the device is its unpretentiousness, clarity and a certain elegance. It fits perfectly among the other kitchen appliances, and everything about it quickly begins to seem familiar and ordinary, as if we have always had it.

Instructions

Before us is a small 16-page brochure with the brand’s signature black cover. It is written in two languages - Russian and Kazakh. The cover contains the brand name, full model name and a profile picture of the device. Inside there is information about safety measures, technical specifications, a list of equipment, a detailed assembly diagram of the device, operating and maintenance rules, as well as the brand’s warranty. If the manual gets lost, you can always download it or view it on the website.

Control

Another nice feature of the device is that it is controlled by one large mechanical button. After the multi-cutter is fully assembled, it is enough to put the product in the neck, close it with a pusher and press the button. The device operates as long as the button is held down, but it is important to remember that continuous operation should not exceed 5 minutes, after which a break is required.

The opinions of users of such devices are divided regarding the need to hold the button while operating, despite the fact that this measure was introduced by the developers for the sake of safety. In our opinion, even holding the button for a few minutes is a small price to pay for increased security. We interviewed representatives of different age groups, and none of them expressed any particular complaints about this.

Exploitation

Using the device turned out to be simple and intuitive. We carefully unpacked the components, wiped the motor block with a damp cloth, and thoroughly washed all removable parts, following the diagram from the instructions. We prepared the food, inserted the first portion into the device, placed a plate under it and pressed the large silver button.

Before us is a neat and pleasant-looking electric grater. All its secrets come down to simple rules that are understandable to every housewife: the quality of the dish depends on the quality of the product; large vegetables should be cut into pieces; It is recommended to rinse the device before changing the product.

It is equipped with an automatic shutdown system when overheating, which signals when the recommended operating time has been exceeded. The manufacturer recommends not to exceed 5 minutes of continuous operation. This time is usually enough to prepare a regular dinner, but preparations at the dacha may require more time. If the engine stops unexpectedly during operation, turn off the multi-cutter and allow it to cool for one and a half hours. To avoid this, it is recommended to take breaks every 5 minutes of work for 10-15 minutes.

Care

Caring for the Redmond FP606 multi-cutter is also easy and pleasant. The plastic block and pusher are easily washed with water, and the body can be wiped with a damp cloth. It is best to immediately clean the nozzles and parts of the device — this rule is understandable, but is not always followed. For testing, we set the attachments aside for an hour; A regular brush and water did the job without any problems.

Before disassembling the multi-cutter, first disconnect it from the network. The motor unit should not be placed under water, and it is better to avoid moisture on the housing. If you use a grater at the dacha, you should not leave it to the will of rain and dew. Accessories and other parts should only be cleaned with mild, non-abrasive detergents. The blades of the attachments are sharp; They, like any grater, are best cleaned with a soft sponge or brush. The manufacturer allows non-metallic parts of the multi-cutter to be washed in the dishwasher, provided that the maximum temperature does not exceed 60°C. However, the attachments and unit should not be placed in the dishwasher.

Before putting the device away, it should be thoroughly dried, and the body should be protected from water in every possible way, although we have already repeated this.

Our measurements

For 5 minutes of operation, the device consumed 0.018 kWh of electricity, with the maximum consumption recorded by the wattmeter being 250 W.

On average, when working with hard vegetables (carrots, potatoes), the power of the device ranges from 200 to 250 W, and for soft products (cucumbers, radishes, apples, cheese, eggs) — from 160 to 180 W.

The noise level when using the device is really low, so you do not have to raise your voice to say anything while it is working.

Practice tests

Carrot

For testing, we used all 4 attachments: small, large, chopper and shredder. Redmond FP606 went through all stages without difficulties. To complicate the task, we used limp carrots: although the end result was less than ideal, this had almost no effect on the operation of the grater itself. The amount of waste was negligible.

Cabbage

We tested a large grater and a shredder. The multi-cutter easily coped with the tests, leaving little waste. The neck of the device is not the widest, so the cabbage was cut into small pieces.

Radish

For the test, we chose a large grater and placed it against four medium-sized root vegetables. The multi-cutter completed the task in a matter of seconds, leaving only a moderate amount of waste in the end. This is especially impressive considering we didn't trim the skin.

cucumbers

We tested both a grater and a shredder, the latter yielding nice medium-sized slices. We were very pleased with the test results; waste was essentially minimal.

Zucchini

A simple test for the soft texture of a vegetable is to shred the squash using a hand grater. The goal was to understand whether the multi-cutter preserves the integrity of the vegetable or mixes it up. The result was perfect and fast, with virtually no waste.

Apple

A similar task is to find out how a multi-cutter will rub the pulp of an apple. We decided to test a large grater for a salad version. We didn’t peel the apple, but I liked the result.

Beet and egg

The processing speed and presentation of the result were tested. It turned out clearly, and there was almost no waste left.

Chocolate

We were interested in how “nice” the crumb would be and how much waste would be left behind in the process. The chocolate rubbed all over, scattering a little over the surface of the table in the process.
