A new trend has emerged in the world of specialized household appliances – vacuum cleaners for mattresses. These devices are usually equipped with ultraviolet lamps to treat surfaces and a special brush that helps remove dust from deep layers of upholstered furniture.
This time we are testing the Jimmy BD7 Pro: let's see how convenient it is and what its features are. He looks, I must say, very nice.

Equipment
The vacuum cleaner arrived for testing in a small white box with full-color printing. The packaging is equipped with a handle for easy carrying.
The manufacturer has placed a large image of the device on the front and back sides, and on the top there are photographs of it in action with brief explanations. All information on the packaging is in English.
Having opened the box, inside we found:

At first sight
The body is made in gray and silver tones, against which the cherry lid of the garbage container stands out. A successful combination of colors gives the device a solid and attractive appearance.
Like most specialized vacuum cleaners for mattress care, the Jimmy BD7 Pro has a one-piece design: the motor part and the nozzle are combined into one. In the front part there is a rotary brush powered by an electric motor, and the main motor is located in the center of the body. On the right is an air outlet grille.
The main difference between the Jimmy BD7 Pro and similar devices we have previously reviewed is the ability to operate on battery power. The removable battery connects to the back of the case, and on the right side there is a two-pole plug for the charger.
A rotary electric brush rotates in the front part of the sole. Closer to the center there is a block with three ultraviolet LEDs, providing bactericidal radiation.
According to the manufacturer, the UV sterilizer in the design effectively destroys 99.9% of pathogenic bacteria, has a detrimental effect on dust mites and destroys most allergens. Movable rollers on the sides of the lamp make it easier to slide over mattresses and pillows, and also serve as safety devices: the ultraviolet light turns on only when the device is pressed tightly against the surface to be cleaned, protecting the user’s eyes from harmful radiation.
The rotary brush has two rows of medium-hard synthetic bristles and two silicone lamellas that knock out dust and microparticles from the soft surface.
The dustbin is located on the top side of the engine block. Underneath it, the manufacturer took care to leave a sticker with brief maintenance instructions.
The dust container consists of two cylinders. The air flow with contaminants first enters the compartment with the cyclone filter, where it rotates around the central element. Large and heavy debris is thrown into a second container with a hinged lid for easy cleaning. Smaller debris is separated by a cyclone filter.
The outer part of this element is covered with a steel mesh with frequent perforations: the middle fraction settles on it. Very fine dust is retained by a HEPA filter in the form of a truncated cone.
At the back of the vacuum cleaner there is a removable battery in a cylindrical housing, secured with a convenient latch. The battery form factor is the same as the recently reviewed Jimmy H9 Pro cordless upright vacuum cleaner, allowing for component interchangeability.
The vacuum cleaner comes with a lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 2000 mAh (57.6 Wh) and a voltage of 28.8 V. If necessary, additional batteries can be purchased on the manufacturer’s website.
To charge the battery, the vacuum cleaner kit includes a DC adapter with a bipolar connector that plugs into the socket on the body.
The vacuum cleaner comes with a simple cleaning device that includes a brush, a comb for “combing” the HEPA filter, and a blade for removing hair and threads wrapped around the rotor.
Instructions
The user manual is a 64-page brochure printed on thick paper with excellent printing quality.
The instructions are compiled in seven European languages, including Russian. The Russian-language part of the document is ten pages long and contains many easy-to-read diagrams and illustrations.
The brochure provides information about the design of the vacuum cleaner, the procedure for preparing for work, the rules of operation and care. The document ends with a list of possible faults with recommendations for their elimination, technical characteristics and a circuit diagram of the device.
Management
The vacuum cleaner is controlled by two buttons on the handle. The first turns the device on and off, the second changes operating modes and power levels.
The Jimmy BD7 Pro vacuum cleaner has two suction modes that can be switched with a short press: Normal and Turbo. To stop and start the rotation of the electric brush, you must hold the switch for a long time (more than 3 seconds). This is especially useful when cleaning delicate surfaces. The suction, ultraviolet treatment and ionization functions operate continuously while the device is in operation.
The small oval display on the top of the device shows the current suction power, activated functions (suction, cleaning, UV treatment and ionization), as well as the battery level.
The screen border changes color depending on the degree of contamination of the surface being treated: blue indicates minimal contamination, yellow indicates moderate contamination, and red indicates heavy contamination.
Exploitation
The device should be unpacked and fully charged before use. The manufacturer warns that the first charging cycles may take longer than usual, and recommends keeping the vacuum cleaner connected to the network for twelve hours the first three times. We followed these recommendations.
During the charging process, the LED display lights up red, and when it reaches 100% charge, it changes color to white — then you can start working.
The vacuum cleaner is easy to use: just turn it on and press it firmly against the surface being treated — a mattress, pillow, blanket, carpet or sofa.
By default, the device activates all four functions: suction, electric brush cleaning, UV irradiation and ionization. If necessary, brush rotation can be disabled by holding the «Mode» button.
The ultraviolet lamp turns on only when the device is pressed tightly against the surface to be treated by both movable rollers. If at least one of them rises, the UV treatment is automatically stopped to prevent possible exposure of the user's vision to the rays of this spectrum.
The vacuum cleaner nozzle occupies almost the entire width, while the bactericidal lamp is located much closer to the electric brush. Therefore, to effectively process mattresses and blankets, it is recommended to carry out several passes with partial overlap.
When we started testing the Jimmy BD7 Pro, we assumed that regular vacuuming of mattresses and blankets with a regular vacuum cleaner would leave them reasonably clean. However, the first launch of the device made us reconsider our opinion.
The photo shows the dust collector of the device after processing a completely clean-looking double mattress, two pillows and a blanket, which we vacuum after each change of linen.
The design of the garbage collector turned out to be very effective: a significant part of the pollution, along with air, is swirled around the cyclone element in the first cylinder and thrown into the second. Dust and lint are collected into balls created by the rotation. They may contain the remains of dust mites inside.
A small amount of the smallest particles are collected on a steel mesh, which acts as a pre-filter. To remove them, you will need to remove the garbage container and disassemble the cyclone system.
A noticeable portion of the fine dust passes through the metal mesh and settles on the outer surface of the conical HEPA filter.
The inner surface of the filter remains clean even after intensive cleaning. We rate the filtration quality of the Jimmy BD7 Pro as excellent.
Care
The manufacturer recommends emptying the dust container after each use.
Regularly check the roller brush for tangled hair and threads, cleaning it if necessary using the blade on a special cleaning attachment.
If necessary, the dust collector body can be washed with water and dried thoroughly before reinstalling. The manufacturer does not recommend washing the HEPA filter; It should be cleaned by tapping or using a regular vacuum cleaner.
Our measurements
Battery life and noise level depend, of course, on the operating mode.

Turning off the electric brush has little effect on the noise level, but noticeably changes its spectrum.
When the battery is completely discharged, the vacuum cleaner operates on average for about 3 hours 50 minutes. The charger consumes up to 22.5 W, and the total energy consumption per cycle is about 0.110 kWh.
Measurements of the suction power of the device were not carried out due to the design of the housing.
conclusions
The Jimmy BD7 Pro cordless vacuum cleaner is designed for cleaning mattresses, pillows, upholstered furniture and carpets. The device is equipped with an effective filtration system that can effectively capture even the finest dust and bed mites. The built-in ultraviolet emitter helps destroy pathogenic bacteria and viruses.
Battery power makes operation much easier and more comfortable to use compared to traditional wired models. The device's battery makes it possible to thoroughly treat upholstered furniture throughout the house in one go. To increase autonomy, the user can purchase an additional battery on the manufacturer’s website.
However, ease of use comes at a price: the cost of the device turned out to be significantly higher compared to similar corded vacuum cleaners. The decision as to whether this is a significant drawback is left to the user. The disadvantages of the Jimmy BD7 Pro also include a relatively high noise level: the sound during its operation, especially at maximum speed, noticeably exceeds the noise characteristics of similar models.
