A kettle is one of the most common household appliances: it is used both at home and in the office. In addition, a teapot is often chosen as a gift, since an extra teapot is always useful. But when choosing a kettle, it is important to consider various aspects due to the wide variety of models. To make your choice easier, our experts tested various kettles and here's what we found.
Polaris PWK 2006CGL with spill cap and light, volume 2 l
This kettle has a large capacity, backlight and a durable glass body, in addition, it is equipped with a unique feature that is common to several models of this brand. It uses patented «Waterway Pro» technology for the removable lid, allowing water to be poured directly through the opening in the lid without requiring it to be removed or opened. When the kettle is placed under running water, the plastic element in the center of the lid lowers, allowing water to enter the flask. This model does not have temperature control, there is only a power button, but it uses a reliable British-made Strix controller.
What did you like?
The blue LED lighting of the kettle is activated simultaneously with the device being turned on. The spout ensures a smooth and splash-free pouring of water, and the automatic shut-off function when turned on without water works quickly, as well as the boiling sensor: the kettle turns off 1-3 seconds after the start of boiling. The volume we measured was almost as stated — the difference of less than 50 ml is insignificant. The noise level during operation of the device was 53 dB, which we assessed as low, and the sound itself can be described as uniform and pleasant to human hearing.
What was disappointing?
Probably nothing serious: the kettle is a pleasure to use. The only exception is that the body heats up a lot, but this is a drawback of all glass teapots.
Only numbers

Kettle with automatic water dispenser Garlyn K-200 Max volume 1.5 l
The Russian brand has set itself a significant task — to create the best kettle in the country. They even presented a video showing the process of working with focus groups of experienced users who shared their comments about the shortcomings of modern kettles. It turned out that many users are not satisfied with the fact that it takes a significant amount of time, electricity and water to prepare one cup of boiling water. They would like to be able to get boiling water quickly at the touch of a button, but standard thermal pots are often too bulky for the kitchen, and dispensers do not have the functionality of a kettle. The result was the appearance of a half-teapot and half-dispenser, which we tested. A dispenser was built into the body of the kettle, which allows you to get a cup of hot water almost instantly, having previously selected the desired volume. The innovation is a small capsule inside the main body of the kettle, which heats a limited volume of water, and the dispenser directs it directly into the cup.
What did you like?
The kettle itself is made of high-quality plastic with a matte finish, has comfortable ergonomics and a pleasant tactile surface. I was especially pleased with the ease of grip and good adhesion of the material to the skin, thanks to which the kettle does not slip and is held securely in the hands. Pressing the dispenser is also comfortable due to its convenient shape, which is a thoughtful solution that ensures ease of use of the kettle.
Attention is paid to details, which creates tactile comfort and visual satisfaction: for example, the illuminated measuring scale. The autodispenser accurately measures the volume of water with a slight error not exceeding 10 ml. Of particular note is the energy savings when using an autodispenser, as well as the low noise level — only 57 dB, which is comfortable for use in domestic conditions. The reliability of the Strix contact group also did not leave us indifferent.
What was disappointing?
Certain shortcomings were also found when using the kettle. For example, the lid of the kettle opens only halfway and cannot be removed, making it difficult to clean the inside. In addition, the kettle does not have the ability to rotate on the platform, but it can be installed at a convenient angle for use. Despite the wide shape of the spout, water pours out of it unevenly, in jerks, with splashes at the end of the spill, which can cause inconvenience during use. It can also be difficult to completely pour out the water due to the built-in design that requires shaking the kettle.
When using the dispenser, it is noted that the temperature of the water in the cup ranges from 84 to 90 °C (the larger the portion, the higher), which may not be suitable for brewing black tea in a cup, but rather suitable for green, herbal tea or instant coffee. It is also important to note that a capacity of up to 250 ml may not be sufficient for many who use mugs with a capacity of 330 ml or more.
It is noted that the boiling sensor does not work immediately, but only after 8-10 seconds of boiling, which means that energy savings occur only when using the dispenser, and not entirely in the device.

Redmond RK-G1310D with temperature control, water heating accurate to one degree and maintaining heat, volume 1.7 l
This kettle not only has the function of boiling water, but also offers the ability to heat from 35 to 90 °C in 1 °C increments. In addition, it automatically maintains the temperature for two hours. Its volume is standard, and the body is made of heat-resistant glass with an unusual retro shape. This glass appears clear or translucent depending on the viewing angle, creating a dramatic appearance. The touch control panel with display is located in the base stand. The kettle is equipped with an automatic shut-off when it boils, there is no water or when removed from the stand (after 1 minute).
What did you like?
The lid of this kettle is completely removable, equipped with a comfortable handle and silicone seals. Simple operation is carried out using the “+” and “−” buttons to select the desired heating temperature, which is shown on the display. You can change the set temperature at any time during heating. The kettle's memory saves the last selected temperature to start from next time (if the kettle remains connected to the mains). To boil, just press the power button; no preliminary settings are required. Automatic heating always follows boiling and can be turned off. The control panel has a lock against accidental pressing by children. However, the most important thing is that the kettle actually reaches the desired water temperature, which allows it to be used for brewing different types of tea, preparing baby formula, cosmetology and other purposes. Overall, this is one of the best advanced kettles we have tested.
What was disappointing?
Water in a kettle without automatic heating cools down quite quickly, the useful volume corresponds to the declared one (1.7 l), but is almost half of the actual volume of the flask.
Only numbers
- A full kettle (1.7 liters) of water at 20°C is brought to a boil in 6 minutes 53 seconds
- 1 liter of water at 20°C is brought to a boil in 4 minutes 30 seconds

Goodhelper KS-18B02 without unnecessary functions, volume 1.8 l
This stainless steel kettle earned positive reviews after our tests: it successfully boiled water, did not leak, turned off safely in the absence of water, and, as the manufacturer promised, stopped emitting a plastic smell a day after use. It should be noted that this kettle is not the most powerful (claimed maximum power is 1500 W, according to our measurements — 1402 W), which can be an advantage for homes with outdated wiring that is not designed for heavy loads. However, the boiling speed of the water was satisfactory, which left us satisfied.
What did you like?
Fast full volume boiling, low noise levels and an all metal flask for long lasting performance. Neutral design suits any kitchen interior. The kettle is quite light.
What was disappointing?
Interestingly, bringing one liter of water to a boil takes only slightly less time than boiling a full volume of water (1.8 liters). Some details are made a little rough.

- A full kettle (1.8 liters) of water at 20°C is brought to a boil in 5 minutes 58 seconds
- 1 liter of water at 20°C is brought to a boil in 5 minutes 17 seconds

Redmond RK-M1301D thermos kettle with touch display on the body, volume 1.7 l
This advanced kettle model, which we carefully studied, amazed us with its wealth of functions and original control panel located directly on the body! It not only brings water to a boil, but also has the ability to heat up to 40, 60 and 90 degrees, making it ideal for a variety of teas, baby formulas, sports nutrition, and also for infusing herbs. After reaching the desired temperature, the kettle automatically switches to auto-heating mode, which is extended for 4 hours, unless it is turned off — to do this, you just need to remove the kettle from the base. The adiabatic body of the model with a hollow insulating layer between the inner and outer walls creates the effect of a thermos: it helps to retain the heat of the water inside the flask, preventing strong heating of the outer walls of the kettle. The reliability and thoughtfulness of this model is emphasized by the use of the British Strix controller.
What did you like?
Every detail is carefully thought out, the overall appearance looks stylish and unconventional — this is in general. Our measurements confirmed that the case indeed does not exceed a temperature of 46 degrees and does not pose a risk of getting burned, and also confirms that the stated temperatures are achieved. It is important to note that the kettle heats up completely very quickly. The unusual control panel, which displays modes and the current temperature directly on the case, turned out to be convenient to use, although some may find the placement of the “+” and “−” buttons in exactly that order unusual. The wide and comfortable spout, through which water flows quickly, evenly and without splashing, also caused a positive impression.
What was disappointing?
Some may lack an external water level scale, but thermos kettles do not have one. They also noted that the black glossy case gets dirty easily and attracts dust.
