At first sight

The body of the vacuum cleaner is decorated in gray and silver tones. Two turquoise-colored elements stand out against the general background: a decorative ring around the fine filter cover and a “trigger” that turns the device on and off.

The user manual is an 18-page A5 brochure printed on thick glossy paper. The book's printing quality is average: the font is easy to read, but numerous illustrations look blurry, with characteristic raster image compression artifacts.

The language of the document is Russian. The manual describes in detail the design of the device, its operation and care. The document ends with a traditional table with a list of possible faults with methods for eliminating them yourself, and a sheet for notes from the seller and service center: a brochure and a warranty card at the same time.

Control

The device is turned on and off with a turquoise “trigger”. To operate the engine, you do not need to hold it: the first press starts the device, the second stops it.

The power of the Evolution Smart Clean VCF2312 vacuum cleaner is controlled through a panel located on the top of the motor unit. This panel has silver “+” and “−” buttons that adjust the suction strength. Unlike most similar vacuum cleaners, this model offers five different suction speeds.

The «Auto» function enables automatic power control mode. When this function is activated, the vacuum cleaner automatically selects the optimal speed depending on the level of dirt detected by the built-in dust sensor.

LED indicators next to the buttons display the current power mode and the level of air pollution in the air path. Here are indicators for blocking the engine and electric brush.

Exploitation

Unpacking and assembling the Evolution Smart Clean VCF2312 vacuum cleaner is easy and intuitive, taking minimal time. Before use, you should provide a convenient place for storage and charging by installing a wall mount near an outlet. This vacuum cleaner can be charged both at the station and directly from the power adapter through the connector at the end of the removable battery.

It is recommended to fully charge the vacuum cleaner before first use. The first charge cycle may take longer, so the best option is to leave the device plugged in overnight.

The charging process is controlled by three blue LEDs on the back of the battery. They blink sequentially while charging and stay lit when the vacuum cleaner is ready for use.

The weight of the vacuum cleaner is slightly above average, but this does not interfere with its use: the device is well balanced and fits comfortably in the hand both when cleaning the floor and in manual mode.

The automatic power control mode of the Evolution Smart Clean VCF2312 works perfectly: the device independently selects the appropriate suction speed depending on the level of contamination determined by the built-in air flow sensor. The transition between modes is smooth and efficient: the vacuum cleaner reacts to an increase in the amount of dust almost instantly. During testing, the «Auto» mode was used most often, and manual power adjustment was almost unnecessary.

It is noted that the vacuum cleaner turns on in manual mode at minimum power, which may not seem entirely logical: it would be preferable to start with automatic mode, leaving manual control as an additional option. Using the default automatic mode in this model would make more sense.

The low height of the floor brush and the successful design of its hinge ensures cleaning the most inaccessible places under furniture: sweeping under low cabinets and sofas is easy and simple.

Thanks to the folding design, you don’t even have to bend over to do this: you just need to press the button in the middle of the extension tube and select the most convenient angle — up to 90°. The tube returns to its original position on its own: just lift it slightly to hear the sound of the latch being activated.

But our model does not have a parking mode in the floor configuration, and during pauses in cleaning, the vacuum cleaner has to be left leaning against the wall or furniture. This is not very convenient and can cause the device to fall and be damaged.

Illumination of the work area not only allows you to restore order in dimly lit rooms, but also significantly increases the convenience of cleaning: the low location of the LEDs improves the visibility of small debris that is hardly noticeable at a normal lighting angle.

If a foreign object gets into the electric brush, protection is triggered: the rotor motor stops, and a warning symbol appears on the display of the vacuum cleaner. The brush can be restarted after turning the vacuum cleaner off and on.

In manual mode, the vacuum cleaner is just as convenient as in the electric mop configuration. At maximum speed, the power of our device allows you to cope with dust and debris in the most difficult to reach places. This is facilitated by the included telescopic nozzle, which significantly increases the radius of action of the device in comparison with tubes of a traditional design.

The automatic mode has proven itself perfectly in this configuration: we never once had the desire to change the power manually during cleaning.

But the not very wide selection of manual attachments was a little disappointing: for example, the presence of an electric brush for cleaning furniture would increase the effectiveness of the vacuum cleaner when removing pet hair from sofas, and a flexible corrugated tube would increase the convenience of cleaning inside the car.

Care

It is recommended to use a soft, dry, lint-free cloth to clean the vacuum cleaner body. Removable parts can be wiped lightly with a damp cloth with a few drops of mild dishwashing detergent and then dried thoroughly before next use.

It is important to avoid using solvents, highly acidic or alkaline substances, or abrasives when cleaning.

The fine filter can be thoroughly rinsed under running water, but it must be completely dry before installing it back.

It is recommended to change HEPA filters every 3-6 months, depending on the intensity of use of the vacuum cleaner. If the corresponding consumables are not found on the manufacturer’s website, they can easily be purchased on other online platforms, for example, on Ozone.

In the maximum configuration (main unit, battery, extension tube and floor nozzle), the vacuum cleaner weighs 3235 g, and in the minimum configuration — 1895 g.

We determined suction power when operating a vacuum cleaner without a pipe and nozzles, in five modes. The dependence of suction power on the created vacuum is shown in the graph below:

The suction power we measured was 22 aW at the first speed, 48 aW at the second, 82 aW at the third, 103 aW at the fourth, and 121 aW at the fifth.

When the stand valve is completely closed at speeds III, IV and V, overheating protection is triggered, but the device does not turn off, but reduces the power to minimum: this can be seen in the blue, green and brown graphs.

The noise level at maximum power with an attached floor electric brush is 81 dBA, at minimum power — 69 dBA. Disabling the motor attachment does not significantly affect the volume, although it does change the tone of the sound.

The battery life of the device depends on the accessories used and the selected power mode. The collected data is presented in the form of a table.

Conclusions

The Evolution Smart Clean VCF2312 vertical cordless vacuum cleaner has as many as five operating modes, which allows you to effectively cope with various home cleaning tasks. In maximum mode, this model has high power, surpassing the similar characteristics of most devices in this class that we have reviewed recently. The battery life at medium and minimum modes is sufficient for cleaning even in large apartments.

We liked the automatic mode, in which the vacuum cleaner independently selects its operating speed depending on the amount of dust, so much that during practical testing we mainly used it. It’s a pity that in this model it is not turned on by default — you need to press the corresponding button.

Evolution Smart Clean VCF2312 has excellent filtration quality, a convenient design and a low noise level during operation. We would call the equipment of this model average: a folding extension tube and a telescopic slot nozzle of the original design are supplied with the vacuum cleaner, but in general it would be nice to add an electric brush for furniture and a flexible tube for hard-to-reach places to the box.

The disadvantages of the model include, perhaps, the relatively large weight of the motor unit.
